Zov is a Shassar Sea bandit.
Biography[]
Zov was once a member of the Sand Scorpions,[1] but later joined the Amber Blades, leaving with Tabri.[2] Zov admired her,[3] but Tabri treated him with some disdain.[4] At some point, he fell into debt with Emigne.[3] No one among the Blades had their ear closer to the ground than Zov,[5] and he was often able to weasel out of patrol duty.[3]
The Light of Fahir[]
In 1270, he stole a map from the Sand Scorpions, but was captured by Thiago and his fellow bandits. However, he was saved by the Shard-seeker.[1] They told him they were searching for a library buried beneath the sands. Zov told them that they best discuss the matter in a safer place.[6] To this end, he led them to Tabri's Encampment, only to find it recovering from yet another lacuni attack, with Tabri having led a force into the desert to confront them.
Zov stayed in the encampment to aid the injured, while one of the lookouts led them after Tabri.[2] He later joined the Shard-seeker in the desert—they had helped Tabri battle the lacuni, but to his lack of surprise, had refused to aid them. Zov told them that the lacuni had abducted some of their men in their last attack. If they rescued the survivors and killed the pack leader, Tabri might aid them. He returned to the camp, where he met with the hero(es) when they returned, bringing the pelt of a pack leader. He took them to see Tabri. Zov tried to claim that he had killed the beast alongside the Shard-seeker, but Tabri saw through his lies.[3]
Zov later met the hero(es) outside the Chamber of Wisdom, after they'd found the first piece of the Scepter of Fahir. He told them to head to Sereth outpost to meet Tabri, while he went inside the chamber. To make sure nothing dangerous was left behind.[7]
Zov and the rest of the Blades later came to the Chamber of Truth, where the hero presented the final scepter piece to Tabri. With the scepter reconstituted, Tabri declared herself to be the ruler of Shassar. Zov and the rest of the Blades knelt before her.[8]
Curse of the Scepter[]
"Yes, I should! And that is entirely the problem. After you left, Tabri declared war on the Sand Scorpions. She tried to strike against Vataos using the power of the scepter. Completely foolish if you ask me. We were overwhelmed--Chased into this godforsaken library! I was searching for Tabri when I was surrounded by these nightmarish...things! We have to find her before something happens. She still has the scepter!"
- The Shard-seeker and Zov(src)
The Amber Blades moved against the Sand Scorpions, but were driven back into the Library of Zoltun Kulle, Zov among them. The Shard-seeker found him inside the library, and Zov claimed that he was searching for Tabri. Tabri had become suspicious of Zov, and ordered Peth to keep in eye on him. When presented with her orders, Zov laughed it off, claiming that Tabri was joking. In truth, Zov was indeed following his own agenda, and used the Shard-seeker to guide him through the library as they searched for Tabri, while he planned to make his move when the time was right.
Tabri and the Shard-seeker made their way through the library; more than once, Zov stumbled into a trap, forcing the Shard-seeker to save him. Eventually, they reached the frame of a terminus. Zov spotted two pairs of footprints, one smaller than the other, both of them going through the frame and disappearing. The Shard-seeker was able to activate the terminus, and entered the realm beyond. In the ensuing fight, Tabri and Vataos were both apparently killed, and the scepter rolled out of the portal. Zov gleefully took it and ran off, intent on selling it.[5]
