"The other, however, is Yl'nira, bequeathed by an angelic artistan to her child and hidden away by the ancients. Supposedly it rests within the Temple of Namari on an island called Bilefen."
Yl'nira

Yl'nira

Yl'nira, the Edge of Temperance, also known as The Last Vestige of the Matyr[1] was an angelic dagger.[2][3]

Lore[]

Yl'nira was an elegant blade, decorated with delicate inlay and filigree. In the midst of its ornamentation stood a golden hooded figure, peaceful and mysterious, bearing a glittering jewel of pale blue in its arms.[4]

History[]

"As a weapon, some might say that Yl'nira accomplished little. As a tool, that dagger may have saved Sanctuary. Let it therefore serve as a reminder that there are many ways to defeat evil. Do not be too quick in dismissing the humblest of tools or the smallest of allies, even the ones that seem the least deadly. Seek only to be useful."

Yl'nira apparently belonged to an archangel;[5] apparently one of the angels who followed Inarius to Sanctuary. Yl'nira's owner had a nephalem child with a demon,[2] and Yl'nira was bequeathed to the child.[4] The dagger was later hidden by the Ancients in the Temple of Namari.[2]

After the Shard-seeker slew Sargoth, Namari bequeathed them with the dagger.[3] Back in Westmarch, the Shard-seeker and Deckard Cain used Yl'nira to destroy the corrupted Worldstone shards they'd collected.

End of Pit

In the Forest of Misery, Yl'nira appeared to the Shard-seeker and prevented their Light from being drained by The Old Growth. It then led them to rescue some angels trapped in the Realm of Damnation. However, even after destroying three of the Worldstone shards, the Soul Siphons, and the first two Pits of Anguish were destroyed, Skarn was able to steal the blade and bind it to his will with his corruptive power.[6] After it was retrieved, the blade was reduced to dust upon expunging a fourth Worldstone shard.[7]

In-game[]

Yl'nira features in Diablo Immortal, though is not an item in the strictest sense. It appears on the player character's waist during much of the Realm of Damnation questline.

  • Yl'nira is said to be an "angelic weapon." However, given the context of the "Destruction's End" dungeon, its owner was apparently an archangel.
