Wortham was a small fishing town situated in Khanduras, located west of New Tristram.
Lore[]
- Myriam Jahzia(src)
A ferry provided transit between Wortham and New Tristram,[1] while it was linked to Ashwold via the Traders' Road.[2] Other nearby locations included the Wortham Bluffs[1] and the Festering Woods.[3] Its features included the Wortham Chapel.[1]
The town was protected by the Wortham Guard.[4]
History[]
Damnation and Terror[]
In 1270, the sky above Wortham turned red. Not long afterwards, the town came under attack by the Cult of Damnation. Over a period of weeks, a number of townsfolk were abducted and turned into undead monsters. The mayor put out a call for help, but he was killed before the Shard-seeker arrived. Using a host, Skarn appeared before the villagers of Wortham, mocking them, as they watched in horror. Later, the Cult of Damnation breached Wortham's western gate, and it was only with the aid of the hero that the Wortham Guard were able to stem the breach. Ultimately, the town was successfully saved, and Skarn's summoning into Sanctuary was averted.[4]
About two years later, the townsfolk of Wortham began having strange dreams. Some of them even disappeared in the night.[5]
The Doom of Wortham[]
In 1285, the town was set ablaze by Maghda and her zealots, on the hunt for a shard of El'druin. The flames were so bright, they could be seen from New Tristram. They successfully retrieved the fragment, though the town (or what was left of it) was saved by the Nephalem. The people were left to rebuild.[6]
In-game[]
Diablo Immortal[]
Wortham is the starting area in Diablo Immortal. After arriving on the nearby the docks, the player has to journey through a corrupted forest to the town center, beginning the game proper.[7] Wortham has a recommended Character Level of 1-12.
After the game's tutorial is completed, Wortham can be visited at will, acting as a hub like other areas in the game. It is at this point that the player will be able to see and interact with their fellows.
