Whisper of Atonement

Whisper of Atonement is a Legendary Gem used exclusively for augmenting Ancient Legendary items. It can only be obtained from the Echoing Nightmare, and was introduced in Season 26.

This fiery gem emerged from the ruined remains of the Petrified Scream. It thrums with the remnants of power left by distant generations of Nephalem.

Gameplay

Unlike all other Legendary Gems, a Whisper of Atonement drops pre-ranked based upon the player's performance in the Echoing Nightmare, making it by far the quickest Legendary Gem to get to a high rank, without the need to run numerous Greater Rifts. The highest possible rank a Whisper of Atonement can drop is 125 based on the Tier completed, although it can be leveled up as far as level 150 by running appropriate tier Greater Rifts.

Whispers of Atonement have no powers and cannot be socketed into equipment. They are only useful as the key ingredient for augmentation in Kanai's Cube, which consumes a Legendary Gem and is more effective the higher its rank. The lack of time investment required to obtain a high-level Whisper makes it excellent for this purpose.
