The Wandering Trader is a cut character planned for Diablo: Hellfire. He was going to be the only new salesman introduced in the Hellfire expansion, but he would trade itens directly rather than sell them for gold.
Contrary to Celia and Complete Nut, he cannot be restored through the Command.txt exploit since he never was fully implemented. However, he was adapted as a new NPC in a fan mod for Diablo named Belzebub.
Design[]
He is not an inhabitant of Tristram, futhermore, his humanity is ambiguous since he was planned to look like and act like a gnome. Contrary to the other NPCs, he was going to be able to walk around Tristram and choose a spot to remain idle, thus being the only unhostile NPC able to move.
If interacted with, he would sing a ditty describing what he was looking for, the possibilities being a non-magical piece of equipment, and if the player traded with him, he'd toss them something magical in return. Every magical item given by the Wandering Trader would be as useful as the non-magical item he asked for.
Should be noted, in the original game other NPCs (Gillian, Griswold and Ogden) were supposed to have the ability to walk around Tristram, but it was cut for unknown reasons.
