Voice in The Coffin is the fourth of the storyline quests released with the Terror's Tide update on Diablo Immortal. It begins immediately after Message in Blood, once you finish killing the cultists in order for Cecil to escape.[1] It is immeately succeeded by Find the Abducted.
Objectives[]
- Inspect the coffin.
(Coffins don't talk. Yet this one does. Could it be a ghost? You should investigate) - Talk to Esmund.
(The voice in the coffin belongs to a boy named Esmund. He doesn't seem fond of the Cult of Terror either. Perhaps he has some information) - Follow Esmund.
(Esmund insists on trying to pay back the cult. Follow him to his camp and make sure he doesn't get into trouble) - Talk to Esmund.(1)

A voice speaks from the coffin
- Voice: Did you... kill them? All of them?
Not that I mind. They really deserved it.

Open the coffin and see what's inside
- Esmund: I was going to get them if you hadn't. Thanks for saving me the trouble.
Wait... you're not from here. Too much fancy armor. Who in watery Hells are you? - Class: I should be asking you that. What are you doing sneaking around a battlefield? You're old enough to see how dangerous this is.
- Esmund: Calm down, old timer. I can take care of myself. I just didn't want to fight five crazies at once, that's all.
I heard them cutting on the soldiers here. Bunch of mad sods. The one time that we get visitors, and it's a cult. - Class: I'm going after them. Head up the shore and avoid anyone you see.
- Esmund: Or! Or how about this? We work together. You're looking for a shortcut to the fortress, and I know every shortcut there is. Help me help some people and —
- Class: No. Go somewhere safe. Tell me everything, and I'll look for them.
- Esmund ignores the player and runs away

Start following him and see where he's heading to
- Esmund: You're not listening to me! They took captives. We have to pay them back.
- Class: What captives? What are they after?
- Esmund: I overheard them asking about some treasure called the"Heart of Creation". That's stupid. We don't even have real houses here.
When they get an answer they don't like, they just say "blood leads the way", and then they start cutting, all slow...
Just help me hurt them. I know you can.
- The duo arrive at Esmund's camp in the Shanties
- Esmund: Oh no. Tayler!
(runs to Tayler) Tay... I found somebody who can help us. - Tayler: They shackled... most everybody. Went... north. Esmund... don't fight. (passes away)

Try and console a grieving Esmund
- Class: I'm sorry Esmund. If that's what you want... I'll help you find Fern. We'll pay them back.
- Esmund: Good. To the north, that's near the Planks. There's a cave not far off that should get us closer to the keep.
- Class: Look for a cave. Got it.
- Esmund: I need to take care of their rites. I know you don't have time, but there's nobody else. I'll catch up with you.
- Esmund begins the burial rite's
- Esmund: Look no more on day or night.
Drift in the sea evermore.
