Varanids are reptilian ambush predators native to the plains near Ivgorod.[1]

Varanids lunge from the brush, unhinging their jaws wide enough to crush a grown adult — bones, clothes and all. Yet varanids are nearly always lone hunters, contributing to a belief that they are cannibalistic, and hunt humans for sport, not nourishment.[1]
The fleshy tissue of varanids contain tiny bile-green scales.[2]
Variants[]
- Insatiable Varanid: The baseline Varanid
- Varanid Yowler: Identified by the frills on each side of their heads. They launch high frequency sonic attacks by vibrating their frills to disorient prey, before pouncing on them.[3]
- Hulking Varanid: A super-sized Varanid. It is observed to be cannibalistic and would snack on nearby dead Varanids. Feeding regenerates its wounds. It can also release excess energy from a meal by breathing a stream of fire.

Varanids are animal monsters seen in Diablo Immortal. They can be found at the Foggy Plains of Mount Zavain.
Trivia[]
- The common varanid comes in two forms; a green horned one and a white hornless one. This might be due to gender dimorphism.
