Core[]
- Sergeant Dalen: What in the Hells was that?
Class
- Necromancer: Nothing you should fear.
- Sergeant Dalen: We’ve seen the fires you’ve lit. Fear has no more hold on us! The catapults could break Azmodan’s lines, but we can’t raise them from their berths while demons swarm over the walls!
- Class
- Necromancer: That is why I am here.
- Follower
- Templar: It is grim out here, but we’ve seen worse.
- Captain Haile: Thank the heavens you’re here. We’re down to four lads until reinforcements arrive. Trouble is, the lift stopped. We can’t see what went wrong through all the muck down there. Oh, what now?
- Soldier: More of the brutes from below, Captain! What do we do?
- Captain Haile: Private, if you need to be told which end of the sword goes where, you haven’t been paying attention! Fight to your last breath, lads!
- Captain Haile: The Lift is moving again! Hold steady, lads! Reinforcements are on their way!
- Captain Haile: Demons! Get ready, men!
- Captain Haile: We would’ve fallen without your aid! It was an honor to fight at your side.
- Follower
- Sergeant Burroughs: You must be the one that lit the signal fires! Help me free the recruits so they can raise this catapult! Over here!
- Sergeant Burroughs: Many men were slaughtered while we held the upper ramparts.
- Class
- Necromancer: That is the way of war.
- Follower
- Templar: I know, but I wonder...were they waiting for reinforcements that never came?
- Sergeant Burroughs: With the fires lit and the catapults firing on the battlefield, Bastion’s Keep just might hold. You’ve given us hope. Thank you.
- Lieutenant Lavail: Scouts report that more of those wretched demon hell bearers will be here any moment! The soldiers need to be protected. The platform will rise more quickly if we don’t lose men!
- Follower
- Templar: Done!
- Lieutenant Lavail: Thanks to your help, we can finally get these catapults firing on the demons on the battlefield. The soldiers out there have a chance now.
- Class
- Necromancer: You’re here alone?
- Lieutenant Clyfton: Of course I’m bloody well alone! Everyone else has gone and died, but I’ll be damned if I’ll leave my post!
- Lieutenant Clifton: I...can’t...believe you’re...making me...do this...on my own!
- Lieutenant Clifton: Done! I...uh...promised Captain Haile I’d watch my temper. Do me a favor and don’t mention that I shouted at you a little, all right?
- Vision of Azmodan: While you tinkered with your paltry catapults, my demons breached the depths of your keep. Once they’ve claimed the Black Soulstone for me, your entire world will burn.
- Soldier: The demons are in the keep! They’re coming up from the depths! To arms! To arms![1]
Townsfolk Dialogue (Bastion's Keep Stronghold[]
- Rondal: I would ask if you’re all right, but I know better.
- Marta: That was hardly an ambush, anyway. Do you remember when the barbarians tried the same thing thirty years ago?
- Rondal: Hah! They tried to steal you away, didn’t they? I was frantic until they brought you back two hours later with an apology.
- Marta: I simply reasoned with him. Garma still sends me a bundle of hides sometimes, you know. He was the nicest kidnapper I ever met.
- Former Mayor Holus: You see? They can kill any of us at any time! I won’t wait a second longer. I am leaving now!
- Class
- Necromancer: Anything can kill you at any time. Just be aware of that.
- Myriam: There is a disgusting, slobbering, fat oozing demon in your future. But there is always time for romance. You really should find someone.
- Class
- Necromancer: Why do you speak so?
- Myriam: Trust me, you’ll appreciate having a loved one to come home to when you’re done saving the world.
- Class
- Necromancer: Tell me of your past adventures.
- Covetous Shen: I once traveled with a Vecin wagon tribe for six months. It was one of the happiest times of my life! Until, of course, that night I drank too much of that delicious flaming cider. Heheh. I woke up in a beautiful married woman’s bed with my trousers on my head so that I wouldn’t lose them, of course. Naturally, her husband came in just then. I had to leave in a hurry, of course, but I followed that wagon train for three more months, sneaking into her wagon whenever her husband finally fell asleep.
- Villager: I wish my husband had lived long enough to see you fighting for our family.
- Class
- Necromancer: Do not waste your wishes on the dead. They have no need of them.
- Boy: Can we go fight with you?
- Girl: Leave him/her alone! Can’t you see he/she’s busy?
- Small Boy: I thought we were all going to die.
Class:
- Necromancer: Some die, others live. And I already know that you will survive.
- Nikola: Yes. The demons never got near me. How do you face those things?
- Soldier: Because I do it for you. They terrify me.
- Injured Soldiers: Someone, talk to me! / Does it look bad? / Where is my family? Why won’t anyone tell me where my family is? / Don’t take my leg. Please don’t take my leg. / Tell Captain Haile I’m sorry.
- Soldier: Akarat’s mercy! If our champion hadn’t come back, we’d all be dead! How did they get in?
- Soldier 2: Unholy bloody magic. You’d think all the Zakarum emblems etched between the stones would have kept them out.
- Villager: My children aren’t afraid like the others. They know we have to be strong, that brave warriors like you have to hold this place. I’m so proud of them.[1]
Townsfolk Dialogue (The Armory)[]
- Leah: I’m glad this is almost done. I don’t...I don’t think I have much time left.
- Class
- Necromancer: I would know if your time was near. It is not. Think of your future...the inn you want to build.
- Leah: No, you were right. There is no safe place for anyone. Look around us. If this keep can’t protect us, what chance would a silly little inn have?
- Class
- Necromancer: Take comfort in the refuge of your mind. So long as your thoughts are your own, you have a defense against fear.
- Leah: The demonic rage is building up again. But I can do this. I know I can. Thank you.
- Class
- Necromancer: Leah’s suffering grows with each passing moment.
- Adria: Everyone suffers. But to do so for a cause greater than oneself — that is the mark of a true hero. My daughter is everything I hoped she would be.[1]
Quest Log[]
- Part 1
- Barbarian: The signal fires rallied the men, but the tide of demons is never ending. I cut down one, and two take its place. Our catapults cannot be raised from their berths as long as the demons hold the Stonefort. I will throw them from the walls and bring our defenses to bear!
- Crusader: The signal fires have rallied the defenders. Now the time has come to dislodge the demons from these walls, and the first step is to raise the catapults in Stonefort.
- Demon Hunter: Though the men fight with vigor once again, the demons continue to swarm the keep. They have overrun the Stonefort, where the catapults are berthed. If I can get them up and working, defending the keep will be a great deal easier. I’ll probably have to kill some demons to give the soldiers time to raise the catapults, but fortunately, there is nothing I would rather do.
- Monk: I have lit the signal fires, and I can see their reflections in the eyes of the men. But demons swarm the Stonefort and prevent us from raising the catapults, witch we need to aid the soldiers on the battlefield below. I will raise the war machine from the depths if I must lift them one by one with my own hands.
- Necromancer: I would have raised these catapults at the first sign of invasion, but these soldiers did not have the chance. As long as they’re still standing, they can help us repel Azmondan’s forces. Every advantage is precious in this bleak battle.
- Wizard: The signal fires I lit have bolstered the men's spirits, but there is still much to be done. The demons plague the Stonefort, where the catapults are berthed. If we are to break Azmodan's lines, the catapults must be raised. This task falls to me, of course.
- Part 2
- Barbarian: The catapults of Bastion's Keep are raised. Azmodan's lines will soon be broken.
- Crusader: The catapults have entered the fray, and Azmodan's lines are already in disarray.
- Demon Hunter: The walls of Bastion’s Keep are secure. With the catapults in place, the soldiers should be able to hold the fortress long enough for me to confront Azmodan. I have never been near so many demons at once. The nightmares have greatly intensified. I can see my father’s face, frozen in determination, as the demons began closing in... This war must end soon. I will ensure that it does.
- Monk: The catapults fire upon the demons in the battlefield. Soon it will be time for me to join the main fighting.
- Necromancer: Finally, I have met soldiers who are eager to fight back! Together we have raised the catapults, and driven Azmodan’s army from the keep walls. It will be interesting to see how this demon lord reacts to setbacks...
- Wizard: I have raised the catapults of Bastion's Keep. Azmodan's army is on the defensive. His lines will soon be broken.
