Gaining a new character title (Diablo II)

Titles are a gameplay feature of Diablo II and Diablo IV.

Diablo II[]

In Diablo II, titles are aesthetic labels attached to the player's name after completing the base game and the Lord of Destruction expansion. Players can earn different titles depending on what type of game was completed. These are judged by Difficulty, soft or Hardcore, non-expansion or an Expansion Character, and class gender (in some cases).

Once a title has been awarded, it becomes a permanent feature and can only be changed by earning a new, higher-ranking title.

Diablo III[]

In Diablo III, titles no longer exist, having been replaced with banners.

Diablo IV[]

Titles return in Diablo IV.[1] They operate on an adjective/noun principle, in that the first part of a title is a description, whereas the second part is an occupation/individual. The two parts of the title are obtained at the same time, but can be mixed and matched between them. For instance, "Early Voyager" and "Initial Casualty" are obtained by themselves, but can be arranged to form "Early Casualty" and "Initial Voyager."

Titles can be obtained through a vast variety of activities, which involve completing specific challenges, such as advancing in the campaign, using certain abilities a number of times or under specific circumstances, completing quest chains, exploring the world map, finding Altars of Lilith or killing a specific number of enemy types; there are also titles that are class-specific and even titles earned through playing a Hardcore character.

Much like in previous Diablo games, titles offer no in-game advantages or bonuses and are just cosmetic. Equipped titles appear for other players, directly under the character's name.

List of Titles[]

  • Diligent Miner (obtained by completing the "Miner" challenge)
  • Early Voyager (obtained after reaching level 20)[1]
  • Initial Casualty (obtained after arriving in Kyovashad)[1]
  • Little Imp (obtained by completing the "Fallen Slayer" challenge)
