Thieves of the Shard is the third of the storyline quests released with the Destruction's Wake update of Diablo Immortal. It begins immediately after Forsaken Land, once the player and Zatham reach the corpses of cultists at the end of the bridge. Thieves of the Shard is immediately followed by Fraying Bonds.

Objectives[]

  • Kill the Cultists (0/5).
    (Cultists of Terror have somehow made it farther onto the island than you. Defeat them.)
  • Talk to Zatham.
    (An unearthly power waits in this land. Zatham must know more.)
  • Proceed and Kill Cultists (0/14).
    (The Fire of Life animates and changes people, plants and animals. You'll need to contend with its untethered power as you move deeper into the island.)
  • Follow Zatham.
    (Zatham has spotted a gathering of cultists. Catch up to him.)
  • Talk to Zatham.
    (Zatham has moved up to where the cultists were attempting to purify the shard. See what he has found.)
  • Talk to Rhyn.
    (You've found a survivor of the cult's attack. Speak with him.)
  • Kill the Limb Sower (0/1).(1)
    (A horrific monstrosity has fused together before your eyes. Defeat it.)
  • Talk to Zatham.(2)
    (The Limb Sower lies dead. Talk to Zatham about your next step.)

Fire Reanimator

Energy surges from two nearby obelisks and reanimates the dead cultists

After defeating the Cultists, talk to Zatham
  • Class: How are they ahead of us? And... what is that magic animating them?
  • Zatham: I told you — this island has power in it. The Fire of Life. A force that touches everyone here. I do not remember it being so... uncontrolled.
  • Class: Let's go. As fast as we can.
More Cultist corpses are reanimated
  • Zatham: Does nothing stay dead any longer?
Continue further, killing all reanimated Cultists on the way
  • Zatham: Do you see them further? We go quickly.
A little further ahead
Thieves Shard

Some Cultists, led by the Bride are gathered before an obelisk. An islander is held captive by them

  • Bride of Hell: Are you prepared, children? (levitates the shard before the obelisk)
The Shard tries to harmonize with the obelisk
  • Bride of Hell: The power of creation... made pure through terror.
Repelled Shard

The Fire of Life rejects the shard. The backlash kills many of the gathered Cultists

  • Bride of Hell: Even here it resists!
Zatham intruded on the gathering, killing Cultists on his path to the Bride
  • Bride of Hell: (glances at Zatham behind herself) This land will burn. Leave, and you can live to dream of its ashes.(retrieves the shard and teleports away)

After catching up with Zatham, talk to him

  • Zatham: You saw what happened when she tried to harness the Fire of Life. Perhaps this is why they could not bring the stone to Hell so quickly.
    The witch is stronger than I suspected. As if she could do anything.
  • Class:
    • Standard: With the Worldstone shard at her command, there is no limit to the horrors she'll be able to unleash. We have to bolster our defenses.
    • Necromancer: Lethes commanded a legion of the dead with the Worldstone shard. The Bride has had time to practice. We should expect the impossible.
The islander (who was knocked out by the backlash from the shard's rejection) begins to rouse
  • Rhyn: Zatham? And... an outsider? (gets up)

Talk to the islander

  • Rhyn: Why... do you travel with one of them? Outsiders bring destruction.
  • Zatham: The outsiders have more in common with our people than you would expect, Rhyn.
  • Class: The cultists you saw are my enemies too. Zatham and I are going to stop them.
  • Rhyn: Their leader... What does she want?
  • Zatham: Let me investigate.

The Fire of Life surges again, and fuses the Cultists' corpses into a monstrosity

  • Rhyn: You slew it!
