The Scouring of Caldeum is the ninth and penultimate quest of Act II of Diablo III.

- Leah: So before we face him, we must evacuate the citizens. The Iron Wolves can help. Let’s speak with them.
- Leah: Belial has started his attack on the city! Let’s go. Asheara is already at the sewers!

- Asheara: When the fireballs began falling from the sky we started evacuating the people. They will be safe here.

- Leah: I saw people hiding under the carts. Bring them to the sewers!
- Adria: We can’t risk our lives on this foolish heroism. We must go to the emperor immediately!
- Leah: We can’t let these people die, Mother.
- Adria: They’ll die anyway! But if we die, Belial wins!
- Leah: You may be right, but I still won’t abandon them!
- Leah: Watch out! Keep the people away from those fireballs! Over here...quickly!
- Villager: Save yourself! It’s the end of the world!
- Villager: We have nowhere to hide!
- Villager: I never believed it would end like this!
- Villager: Please, help me reach the sewers!
- Villager: Who has brought this wrath down upon us?
- Asheara: The refugees must be evacuated here!
- Leah: Lead the rest of the people here before it’s too late!
- Adria: Now, to the gates! We have no time to lose.
- Leah: Let’s go![1]

- Scoundrel: Do you ever miss your own time?
- Enchantress: I must not waste my life wishing for an era that has long passed.
- Scoundrel: Very wise, but I don’t believe you.
- Enchantress: Fine. Everything I have ever known is lost to me. How would you feel?[1]

- Sadeir the Innkeeper: I am not going to the sewers, no matter what you say. I just bought these clothes.[1]
Quest Log[]
- Part 1
- Barbarian: Belial will destroy Caldeum to keep me from getting to him. He must know that I have the Black Soulstone, and he fears what I may do. I need to get to the boy as soon as possible. Time is running out.
- Crusader: Belial will do anything to keep me from him. He must know I have the Black Soulstone and he is smart enough to have deduced what I mean to do with it. Time is running out.
- Demon Hunter: Now that I posses the Black Soulstone, Belial would sacrifice every last innocent person in Caldeum to stop me from reaching him. I must make haste. The refugees will not perish on my account, I swear it.
- Monk: The innocent citizens of Caldeum have suffered long enough at Belial’s hands. He would sacrifice them all to stop me, but he will fail. I will save whom I can.
- Necromancer: Belial is threatening Caldeum directly now, and Hakan is nowhere to be found. I think I know where this path leads, but first, there are people I must protect.
- Wizard: Belial knows I am coming for him. He fears me and will destroy all of Caldeum to bury his enemies beneath the rubble. I cannot stand by and watch him rain death upon my city and the innocents who live there. Protecting them delays me, but this is why I learned magic. This is what I must do, even if it means Belial keeps his life a little while longer.
