Core[]

  • Class
    • Necromancer: For once, the cultists are not using an illusion. The way is blocked. I must go through the Khasim Outpost to the west.
  • Aleran: We’ve been safe ever since the Imperial Guard came.
  • Caliem: If you need a place to camp until the gates are opened, there is room in our cellars, safe from the desert heat.
  • Kadin: The Imperial Guard will keep us safe.
  • Class
    • Necromancer: I need you to open the gate.
    • Wizard: I need you to open the gate. I must reach Alcarnus.
  • Maghda: Here you are, delivered unto me as a sacrifice! A gift from Lord Belial!
  • Class
    • Necromancer: Or he’s setting you up to fail.
    • Wizard: Sacrifice? Me? Belial sent you here as bait to lure me away from his treachery in Caldeum.
  • Maghda: No. He would never betray me! Strike him/her down!
  • Class
    • Necromancer: You never learn.
    • Wizard: Belial is the Lord of Lies, Maghda. The truth is...you were dead the minute you killed Cain.
  • Captain Davyd: Not a moment too soon. They planned to sacrifice us to Belial. Iron Wolves, take back the town!
  • Class
  • Captain Davyd: Yes. We’ve heard rumors of a horrible slaughter there.
  • Class
    • Necromancer: Then I’ll be on my way.
    • Wizard: Then please open the gate. It is past time for Maghda to die.[1]

Townsfolk Dialogue[]

  • Myriam: I must say, I'm very fond of this new family I find myself in. But you could be a bit more honest about your love for us, you know.
  • Class
    • Necromancer: Love?
    • Wizard: I don't know what you are talking about.
  • Myriam: Oh don't try to hide it. You act like you just need us, but we know the real reason you've brought us along with you.
  • Myriam: Have I ever told you that I knew Shen before he became part of our family here? Aw, he is such a sweet old fool. What a wild love we had for each other. He used to do the most surprising things, if you know what I mean. I could tell you stories that would curl your hair.
  • Class
    • Necromancer: I must decline.
    • Wizard: Please don't.

Quest Log[]

  • Part 1
    • Barbarian: How many traps has the Coven placed in my way? The road to Alcarnus is blocked, and I must go through the Khasim Outpost. Every moment I am delayed, my anger grows. It is good that there are so many cultists in these deserts for me to release my fury upon.
    • Crusader: The Cultists are tenacious, I will give them that. They have foregone illusion and instead actually blocked the road to Alcarnus. I will have to divert through the Khasim Outpost.
    • Demon Hunter: The road to Alcarnus is blocked here. I’ll have to go through the Khasim Outpost to the north. The cultists may have forced me on this circuitous route for a reason. I’d best be on my guard.
    • Monk: The road unfolds before me, but it will not lead to Alcarnus. No, I must take another diversion from my path, through the Khasim Outpost. I Walk blindly into a trap—I know it—but there are no other roads that lead to the city. The Coven will be expecting me, but I am not unaware.
    • Necromancer: Eirena is a welcome addition to my allies. How strange that so many people have chosen to keep company with a Priest of Rathma! Our times must be desperate indeed. Maghda and her miserable coven are to blame. Their deaths will even the scales.
    • Wizard: The Coven seems determined to keep me from Alcarnus. First, I was forced to contend with the cultists' illusions in the desert, and now the road is actually blocked. How bothersome. If my memory serves, I can reach Alcarnus through the Khasim Outpost, but surely the Coven knows this. I have no doubt there will be some surprise waiting for me.
  • Part 2
    • Barbarian: The road through the Khasim Outpost is closed. There is something strange at work here, and I do not trust the Imperial Guards. I could be a trap.
    • Crusader: The road through the Khasim Outpost is closed as well. Yet the place is under the control of the Imperial Guard. Something is very wrong here.
    • Demon Hunter: As I suspected, something is amiss in the Khasim Outpost. But there is no other way to Alcarnus. I must spring whatever trap awaits me here.
    • Monk: It is as I suspected. Though everything seems normal, there is something hidden here, and I must expose it to the light. Alcarnus is closed from the Khasim Outpost, and only the Coven would wish that.
    • Necromancer: The surrounding deserts are filled with peril, yet an eerie calm rests over the Khasim Outpost, and the gates are shut. A dark force is at work here.
    • Wizard: Something is amiss here. The Imperial Guard has garrisoned the town and is preventing anyone from continuing to Alcarnus. The townspeople seem uneasy. I cannot put my finger on it, but I suspect a trap. I grow impatient of all this trickery.
  • Part 3
    • Barbarian: The Iron Wolves protecting the Khasim Outpost had been taken prisoner by the Imperial Guard. That is no less than what they had hoped to do to me, but I am a harder prey to ensnare. Now that I have freed the Iron Wolves, they will open the gate for me.
    • Crusader: The Iron Wolves had been taken prisoners by the Imperial Guard, who sought to capture me as well. But now the Iron Wolves are freed and can open the gate to Alcarnus for me.
    • Demon Hunter: The Imperial guards were demons in disguise. That must have been what set me on edge when I first encountered them. However, the Iron Wolves who were kept prisoner here seem trustworthy. I must remember that. I may need their help in the future, but for now I must get to Alcarnus.
    • Necromancer: Now that the little deception is out of the way, I can finally reach Alcarnus. This time, Maghda will finally meet her death.
    • Monk: Now the treachery is revealed. The imperial guards are serpent demons wearing the guise of men. I would expect no less from Belial. But his deceptions are useless against me, for the gods have given me the strength to withstand them and see the truth.
    • Wizard: My suspicion proved to be correct, but I had not imagined that the imperial guards were demons in disguise. The more I learn in this desert, the more pervasive the evil of the Lord of Lies seems to be. I rescued Captain Davyd of the Iron Wolves, and he will open the gate so that I may continue to Alcarnus. After meeting Asheara and Davyd, I believe the Iron Wolves are worthy of my trust. Perhaps they will aid me when I return to the city to root out Belial from wherever he hides.
