Jeryhn Palace

The Palace

The Palace is the seat of power of Lut Gholein.

Lore[]

The Palace is a beautiful, domed building with walls of striped marble. It has an arched front gate. Inside, it has elaborately carved pillars supporting balconies overlooking a central atrium, located under a giant golden dome. In the back of the atrium is a spiral staircase that led to the Palace's harem.[1]

A secret entrance to the Arcane Sanctuary is located within the Palace.[2]

History[]

The Palace was once a Vizjerei fortress.[2]

By the 13th century, the Palace was the seat of power of Jerhyn, Sultan of Lut Gholein. A Palace Guard was maintained.[3] It was a place of luxury and comfort.[1]

After the Darkening of Tristram, Jazreth was able to gain entry into the Palace. He disappeared shortly afterwards.[3] Not long afterwards, troubles began to afflict Lut Gholein. Jerhyn allowed the Harem Guilds to join him within the Palace. However, one night, screams echoed from the palace's harem. The guards arrived to find the women being slaughtered by demons. The guardsmen tried to push the demons back into the rift from which they'd emerged. However, they were fighting a constant, losing battle, with demons continuing to pour into the palace. This forced Jerhyn to hire mercenaries to defend the city.[1]

The Palace was entered by a group of heroes in pursuit of the Dark Wanderer. They noticed how quiet the Palace interior was. What few servants they saw moved through the shadows, darting from one hiding place to another. Through the Palace, they gained entrance to the Arcane Sanctuary.[1] By slaying Jazreth, they cut off the flow of demons into the Palace.[4]

In-game[]

The Palace appears in Act II of Diablo II. It has two zones—the Harem, and the Palace Cellar.
