The Handmaiden is the fourth quest of Ashwold Cemetery in Diablo Immortal. It follows directly onward from Consulting the Guards, and leads directly into The Tomb of the Queen.

Objectives[]

  • Find the Handmaiden's Cottage.
    (The handmaiden's home lies to the northeast, beyond the graves. Find her before it's too late.)
  • Kill the Undead (0/3).
    (The handmaiden's home lies to the northeast, beyond the graves. Find her before it's too late.)
  • Search for the Handmaiden (0/1).
    (The handmaiden's home lies to the northeast, beyond the graves. Find her before it's too late.)
  • Follow the Bloodstain.
    (A bloodstain leading into the cellar, a foul sign, if there ever was one.)
  • Defeat the Ambushing Undead.
    (An ambush! Lethes's undead minions were lying in wait. Destroy them all!)
  • Talk to Xul.
    (It was all for naught. The handmaiden is no more... And it seems Xul, the necromancer from before,[1] has also come seeking the girl.)
  • Talk to the Handmaiden.
    (Through an ancient rite, Rathma's blessing has granted you to speak with the handmaiden. Find out all that you can.)
  • Talk to Xul.
    (The handmaiden's spirit has faded and the necromatic ritual has run its course. Consult with Xul before setting off to the Queen's Tomb.)

    • Standard: Ha, of course you didn’t. No, I recognize my old student’s handiwork. The body is still warm too. Hmm, you may wish to stand back...reanimation can be, unpredictable.
    • Necromancer: Yes, this does look like her handiwork. The body is still warm too. Hmm, I believe a reanimation is in order. Watch carefully, this rite is only shown to masters.
Xul begins the rite
  • Xul: Rathma, guide my voice to the soul of the recently slain. Return to us, child, we have one final task for you.
Handmaiden Ghost

The handmaiden's spirit is summoned

  • Asylla's Handmaiden: No, NO! Stop torturing me! I didn’t do anything! I told you everything!
  • Xul: It's all right...No one can hurt you any more. You’re safe now. That woman...the one who hurt you, what did she want?
  • Asylla's Handmaiden: She wanted the location of the Queen's tomb. I told her! I didn’t want to! But, she...she made me. They buried the Queen in the old garden. Hid her tomb underneath, so no one would ever disturb her rest... I-I failed Asylla. I failed my queen.
The handmaiden's spirit disappears
  • Xul: Poor girl...I'll stay here—ensure she's properly interred. You, however, need to get to that tomb. Do not let Lethes near the Queen’s body.
Xul begins the funeral rites for the handmaiden
  • Xul: May your soul find rest, young one.
