Quest icon
The Guardian is the final quest of Act III. It's initiated by Ormus when players near Travincal or smash the Compelling Orb. The quest involves killing Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred and is completed after players manage to do so.
Upon completion of this quest, the Infernal Gate hidden deep within Mephisto's lair is opened and players may enter it in order to begin Act IV.

See the Mephisto article for tips on how to defeat the Lord of Hatred and complete the quest. You cannot enter the Durance of Hate until you smash the Compelling Orb with Khalim's Will.
