Core[]
- Lorath Nahr: Tyrael sent me to find you. Malthael has taken the Black Soulstone. You must come with me!
- Class
- Wizard: I think not. People are dying down there. They need my help.
- Lorath Nahr: But you and Tyrael need to form a plan! We must find Malthael!
- Class
- Wizard: Tell Tyrael I will meet him in Westmarch. Go!
- Lorath Nahr: It will be done. I swear it!
- Westmarch Villager: We're going to die!
- Westmarch Villager: She's coming to kills us all!
- Class
- Wizard: No!
- Class
- Wizard: The gates!
- Follower
- Enchantress: Those gates are bound by a spell I cannot break.
- Follower
- Enchantress: Even though death surrounds us, the air feels almost too clean. The city has suffered a fate outside of nature.
- Victor: Stop! Don't go out into the streets!
- Victor: It's the end of the world. So many have been killed, and the reapers are everywhere.
- Class
- Wizard: But are there any survivors?
- Victor: General Torion was defending a group of refugees at the old Zakarum Cathedral. But they're likely all dead by now.
- Emily: Wait—you're the [class] who saved Bastion's Keep! You'll save us too, won't you?
- Class
- Wizard: Of course. It's what I do.
- Ophelia: Keep moving! I think we lost her! Oh no, no!
- Class
- Wizard: Demon blood? They were just innocent people!
- General Torion: Defend the church! Repel these vile reapers!
- Tyrael: Ah, we found you.
- Class
- Wizard: Tyrael, why is Malthael intent on destroying this city?
- Tyrael: Because he feeds on death. Every time his reapers kill, he grows stronger. And with the Prime Evil gone, Malthael believes this is the perfect time to end the Eternal Conflict.
- Lorath Nahr: Humanity has nothing to do with that war!
- Class
- General Torion: The church! All the refugees are inside! Follow me!
- Follower
- Enchantress: Did the people pray to be saved? Were their prayers answered?
- General Torion: Akarat's bane! This is worse than I feared!
- Class
- Wizard: What are these things?
- Tyrael: A death maiden! Stop her!
- Kasadya: Nephalem! Your soul will be mine.
- Class
- Wizard: Just tell me where to find Malthael, and I'll put an end to this carnage.
- Tyrael: I know only that he is not in Westmarch. He could have taken the Black Soulstone anywhere in creation.
- Class
- Wizard: But why does he want the stone? Is there any way to find out?
- Tyrael: There may be. A sliver broke off when Malthael took the soulstone. Perhaps by studying this sliver, I can learn his plans.
- Class
- Wizard: You'd best get started on figuring it out. If you need me, I'll be saving the city.
- Follower
- Enchantress: They thought they would be safe in here. But they were trapped.
Townsfolk Dialogue (Survivor's Enclave)[]
- Covetous Shen: Did you know there were once two moons? Liria is the one that is no more.
- Covetous Shen: I think it is time I told you the whole story of Zei and his master; the god of desire...Dirgest.
- Class
- Wizard: Of course. I'd love to hear your version of that story. I'm certain it will be amusing.
- Covetous Shen: Well, it's not amusing. Dirgest's jewel has appeared again, and the time for secrets is over.
- Class
- Wizard: No more secrets? Then tell me if you are a god.
- Covetous Shen: Haha.
- Covetous Shen: There was a gem market here in Westmarch. I spent many a carefree day browsing the aisles. To think I will never again see all those happy little stalls, those rows of jewels, and those gemcutters.
Quest Log[]
- Part 1
- Wizard: I never imagined I could tire of pursuing knowledge, of searching for long-forgotten spells. Yet, I am bored—I must have devoured half the great library of Caldeum. Now, word comes that the Eternal Conflict threatens us all again. I am eager to feel the thrill of combat once more, even though I realize that war means pain and death for thousands. My excitement is selfish, and I struggle with feelings of guilt—yet, the thought of unleashing my full power upon my enemies is sublime and calls to me.
