Transcript[]
- Beyond the Wolf Gate
- Class: It seems not even Westmarch is safe these days.
- Westmarch Guard#1: We should all stay indoors.
- Westmarch Guard#2: What is it made of? Stone? Iron?
- Westmarch Guard#3: Justinian's going to flip his throne over this.
- Westmarch Guard#2: Oughta seal up the district.
- Westmarch Guard#3: (to the player) Keep a good distance, adventurer. We don't know what the rock will do.
- Class: You should let me take a look. Commander's orders
- Westmarch Guard: That so? How about some proof?
- Submit Rayek's letter
- Westmarch Guard#3: Commander always gets what she wants. Go on ahead.
Better be careful. Don't do anything stupid.
I'll say something nice at your funeral
- Inspect the crimson slag
Crimson Vision[]

The player is dragged into a vision
- Class: Another vision. I hope it's the past and not the future.[1]
Sounds like a battle ahead.

The player comes upon the scene of a witch facing Cultists with a strange vessel in the background
- Witch: What are you hoping to accomplish? Besides dying, I mean.
- After the witch defeats the Cultists, more appear

The witch knocks the cultists out with a ward
- Class: She can't hear me. And I can't strike the Cult. It's one of those visions, then
- After defeating the cult, the blood of slain cultists interact with the vessel, corrupting it before erupting in a flare of power. A flying demon arrives and damages the vessel

The witch binds the demon
- Witch: You are not permitted here. In the names of Adrahau and Gwerith, be bound.
The cage is in our circle's care. A false coven won't change that.

The witch places an emergency ward to stem the damage to the vessel
- Witch: It is damaged. One the outside.
Those wards better hold.

The witch portals into the Vessel to check the extent of the damage
Voidwound Vessel[]

Inside the vessel is a dark chamber
- Witch: It only attacked the exterior. How was the damage so deep?
- Catch up to the witch
- Witch: I have to staunch it before they reform.
Whatever the hell I need to.

The Voidwound begin to wake
- Apothrus, Tamer of the Fallen: The doors to my prison lie open, and the mortal husks cry out to join me in chains.
- Witch: (mutters) No.
- Ophinneb the Skin-Veiled: Children of the flesh. They will come to me. They will see me clothed with their lives. And I will greet them.
- Shades begin to attack the Witch
- Dymdrail, Crawling Woe: How slowly shall I take my indulgence with this world. A thousand score souls wrung screaming into the darkness, and I am barely whetted.
- Phangwrth, Warmth-Feaster: Fodder... everywhere. Moving. Living... Yessss....
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: Mortal tricks and magics wane. The hunger for the void is endless.
- The Witch escapes through a portal
- Ophinneb the Skin-Veiled: The Many will return her to us, and time will return us above.
She is gone, but not beyond our reach. - Dymdrail Crawling Woe: The old wards begin to fade. They will fade soon.
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: The sun fades. The moon bleeds. It is the epoch of Dhasocth Iyadur.
Exit Crimson Vision[]

Back at the King's Road
- Class: Demons trying to free one another. I must tell Rayek about this.
And shake off this vision. - Westmarch Guard#1: We should have never broken with the Zakarum.
- Return to Rayek
- Rayek: (as the player approaches) Finally! You're here. You have no idea what a pain it's been getting them to leave me alone.

Talk to Rayek
- Class: I got your letter and spent some time near that crimson rock. Visions seeped out of it. The past, I think.
A massive vessel, guarded by a witch. She called it a cage. Demons attacked it, and it cracked. The moon turned red.
Inside were five demons, trying to get free. All these chunks of slag everywhere... could they be from the cage? - Rayek: Of course! Of course that's it. We'd probably need to collect all the pieces, put the cage together, and close it back up.
- Show Rayek a drawing of the vessel

The vessel in which the Voidwound was sealed
- Class: Here's what it looked like. And I found a damaged ward on a rock outside the gates.
- Rayek: Fascinating. The Einfrinn Tree has held back it's share of demons. I wonder if there's a connection.
Try offering it up.
- Offer the slag to the Einfrinn Tree

Einfrinn Tree resonates with a Crimson Slag, causing flowers to bloom
- Rayek: Look at that! It's responding. I wish I could talk to whoever built that cage. We could learn a lot from each other.
In the meantime, I suppose I can work with blossoms. How hard could it be? - Commander Kaya: What is that? (enters a combat stance)
- A portal opens and the Witch from the vision comes through
- Witch: Who's using my ward? Speak up.

Shades also come out of the portal
- Commander Kaya: A witch! And shadows with her!
- After defeating the shades
- Commander Kaya: You need to leave Westmarch immediately. And without fuss.
- Class: Commander, she's not our enemy. I think she's the solution to our problems.
- Commander Kaya: Fine. But take yourselves somewhere less visible. Now.
- Witch: City folk. Always welcoming.
- Class: You are the witch who was keeping the demons trapped.
- Witch: Nisza. Wardkeeper of the Untameable Wilds. How do you know me?
- Rayek: I'm Rayek, and... well, it was a vision. Don't let it occupy your mind too much — we need to fix the cage. We can help you.
- Nisza: Oh, thanks for that. I was just going to let it stay broken before you came along.
My circle held the Voidwound in place for generations. A coven of demon worshippers tried to end that, and I stopped them too. So far. What's your contribution? - Rayek: I think we can assist with the repairs. The Einfrinn Tree here — it keeps demons at bay. And it responded to one of your circle's wards. Look.
- Nisza: Sounds like you're speculating. Let's see.

Nisza uses one of the flowers to upgrade her staff
- Rayek: Oh. That's... exactly what I would have done.
- Nisza: You're onto something. This could reinforce the broken wards. Or kill me in the attempt. At least then I can blame someone else. I'm leaving for the cage.
Are you coming with me? - Class: I thought you'd never ask.
- Rayek': I'll do some research. If we can keep living demons trapped — think about what that would mean.
- Commander Kaya: Try to limit our problems to spontaneous blooming, hmm?
- Rayek: I'll just fish a few of these out.
- Commander Kaya: Just don't do anything foolish where people can see.
- Start following Nisza to The Docks
- Class: Tell me about the demons.
- Nisza: The Voidwound. One of the old Witch Circles in Sharval thought they could form a pact together.
Our coven has been cleaning up the mess since before I was born.
We handle the darkness. We don't invite it for tea.
My forebears put the Voidwound in their cage. Catarag killed most of them in the process.
They sank the cage in the sea. Warded it with the light of the moon. Apparently that's not enough.

At The Docks
- Nisza: We've got urgent business to attend to. Are you shipping out soon?
- Captain Rehm: Where are you headed?
- Nisza: North of the gulf, to our doom. Just two of us.
- Captain Rehm: Ha! Aye. I can make that trip madam, If you're serious. Is she serious?
- Sail to the Voidwound Cage
- Nisza: It's calm, that's good.
- Class: The fog's dense, that's not.
- Nisza: Watch yourself. The demon-worshippers might be in hiding. (heads deeper into the island)
- Follow Nisza
- Nisza: Keep up with me. It's just a short stroll.
- Cultists attack; defeat them
- Nisza: I bound their demon with the last of Adrahau's shackles. It won't hold for long.
- After the battle
- Class: This can't be the last of them. It never is.
- Nisza: One more. (looks at Shumbeel)
They always wriggle free.

Shumbeel breaks his shackles
- Nisza: Come on, then.
- Defeat Shumbeel
- Nisza: Above and below. Earth and moon will hold you fast.

Wounded and beaten, Shumbeel retreats
- Nisza: I'll set a vigil in case it comes back.
The cage is in bad shape. But they're not free yet.
I wasn't sure you'd be much help. It's nice to be wrong once in a while.
Let's tuck them in tight

Nisza attempts to repair the vessel
- Nisza: What's this? The wards weren't just clawed apart. They were tampered with. Could another witch have...
No matter. If my burden had to fall to someone else, I'm lucky it was you.
The Untameable Wilds is a small circle, but we have long memories. I won't forget your help.
- The ground begins to rumble
- Nisza: What?
- The vessel explodes, throwing Nisza and the player into the sea

The Voidwound escape their prison
- Later, aboard Captain Rehm's ship

Nisza and the player aboard Captain Rehm's ship
- Rayek: You're awake! I... I'm just glad you're alive. The captain found you at sea.
- Class: The Voidwound demons escaped. All five of them
- Nisza: They won't stop at punishing the circle. They'll devour anyone they can. This is beyond a disaster.
- Rayek: I understand why you might think that... but my friend and I know how to deal with escaped demons. I used pieces of the cage and a few blossoms to make a new Helliquary. Ah, a Helliquary is a box where we —
- Nisza: Helliquary? So poetic. Listen to me: don't just tinker with wards and hope to trap demons. You'll hurt yourself. Leave it to the experts.
- Rayek: We're the experts. We kill demons, put their pieces in the Helliquary, and seal their miserable souls. It's worked. A lot. We can even harness their power afterward.
- Nisza: Alright. Show me.
- Go to the Einfrinn Tree in order to fight Catarag
Enter Catarag's lair together with Nisza and soldiers mobilized by Kaya
Starless Shrine[]

A soldier is injured beside the road
- Westmarch Soldier: Too many. Far too many...
- Catch up to Nisza

Nisza and other Westmarch soldiers battle hordes of demons
- Help Nisza and the soldiers battle Catarag's demonic legion

- Nisza: The demons are bound by my wards. Let's kill them. Now.. Right now, please.
- As the last demon is killed, a shadow forms above the battlefield
- Nisza: Get back!

Catarag drops from above in a ground punch, killing all the soldiers in an explosion
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: You will witness.
- The battle starts.
Cataragatarag charges his magic
- Nisza: Eyes open! The demon readies it's magic!
- Nisza creates an ice ward to protect the both of you from Catarag's flames

Nisza creates an ice ward to ward off Catarag's flames
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: I am the only light.
- Catarag stomps the floor. The quake distracts Nisza, thus causing her ward to fail. Catarag then lights his sword on fire
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: Burn anew.
- Later, Nisza is trapped by demons

Nisza is trapped in a Spear Cage
- Nisza: Over here, quickly! I've got the demons' attention. And they are very very... very angry.
- Break Nisza free
- Nisza: Thanks. Thought I'd never get out.
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: We leave nothing.

Catarag summons lava that slowly floods the area
- Continue the battle
- Nisza: I'm pushing back the flame. Don't stand in the fiery bits.

Nisza uses a ward to clear out the lava
- After Catarag is defeated
- Catarag the Strangling Sun: I wake... with oblivion!
- Nisza: There! The ancient wards are binding it once again. If you're taking a piece of it for that wierd box of yours, now's the time.
Is that what you always go through? Sealing that demon took no small cost. I need to return to my coven and regather my strength. Here: take the fragment to Rayek. You two can deal with this.
- Nisza exits through a portal
Use the portal to return to Westmarch
