- Talva Silvertongue(src)
Sir Talva Fairhurst,[1] better known as Talva Silvertongue, is the Magistrate [2] of Port Justinian. He is suspicious and hard-hearted, focused on the port's trade prospects more than anything else.[3][4]
Biography[]
As a young man, Talva Silvertongue was earnest and grew up in Westmarch as part of its nobility. During a high banquet, Talva publicly admonished Lady Brownrigge on the poor state of Port Justinian. He admonished her for devoting her farmland to winemaking while her crofters drank filthy water. His earnest appeal "moved" Justinian IV,who appointed Talva as the next magistrate of the port. This decision annoyed the nobility, and earned him the moniker "Silvertongue".[1]
Unfortunately, he arrived to a failing port beset by threats of pirates, fetishes and the occasional undead from the nearby ruins. This made him to be bitter towards King Justinian and the nobility of Westmarch, claiming that his actions at the high banquet were a once-in-a-lifetime mistake.[2]
In 1270, he was approached by an adventurer/group of adventurers, who were searching for the Temple of Namari. Concluding (incorrectly) that they were working with Jin, he told them how to find the temple, but commented that the swamp would likely kill them before they got there.[3]
Later, Port Justinian was attacked by a horde of Fetish. The same hero(es) that Silvertongue had encountered earlier saved him from the monsters. Getting down to it, he asked what they wanted in return. They answered with information on three beacons that had been taken from the Temple of Namari. He told them that one beacon had been purchased by an explorer years ago, but that he'd never made it off the island. The other was in a village to the east. On that note, he suggested that they talk to Cadeus.[5]
Later, a portal spewing out skeletons appeared near the eastern entrance to the port. The adventurer(s) arrived to warn that the skeletons were just an advance force, and that the real army was on the way. Talva complained about how they always seem to arrive with monsters, but evacuated the area and put a blockade on the path. The adventurer(s) were able to save the day and Talva, while thankful, advised them to seek better investment elsewhere.[6]
Since the attack that ruined the port,[5] Westmarch City Westmarch reduced the provisions sent to the port.[2] Things became more dire in the port, and food was hardly enough. Talva began to exile people who didn't contribute,or disrupt the operations of the port.[4]
Talva had to borrow from the Crimsonblade to keep the port afloat. He hoped to be able to repay from exporting wine extracted from the Swamp Grapes he planted the previous spring. Unfortunately, the Crimsonblade asked for their money before enough wine was produced to be exported.[2]
In-game[]
Talva appears as an NPC in Diablo Immortal in Port Justinian. He features during the "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Blazing Raid" quests.
Trivia[]
- Given the flavor text of the Geli's Gratitude amulet, it is implied that there is some connection between Talva and Geli.
