Tremain was a kind and just man, known for his many talents. As a Zakarum holy man, he was a wielder of light, capable of both healing the wounded and also performing powerful exorcisms, such as his purging of evil from the man possessed by the demon Fleshdoom. Tremain was admired and revered by the townsfolk of Tristram, particularly Pepin, who learned much from the priest.
While not a fighter himself, Tremain was powerful enough to use the light against demons, as noted by Fleshdoom fleeing into The Labyrinth beneath the cathedral. Tremain was also able to move in and out of Tristram without being targeted by the cloaked riders; the demonic entities that would attack any villager who tried to leave the town. Deckard Cain noted that Tremain's ability to travel with little problem aided the Tristram in keeping contact with the rest of the kingdom.
