- Tabri(src)
Tabri is the leader of the Amber Blades.
Biography[]
Tabri and Zov were once members of the Sand Scorpions,[1] under the command of Vataos. Tabri witnessed firsthand how Vataos operated, how those who refused to follow his orders were executed.[2]
Zov and Tabri broke free from the Scorpions, forming the Amber Blades.[1] Her relationship with Zov was uneasy.[3] Over the years, she encountered many adventurers who sought to speak with the Blades, before daring to enter Shassar's chambers and tombs. According to Tabri, "each of them wound up the same."[4]
The Light of Fahir[]
In 1270, the Blades' encampment came under repeated attack by the lacuni. After one that left a number of guards injured, Tabri led a cadre out into the desert to confront the panther-men.[1] She was aided by the Shard-seeker, who slew the lacuni alongside her. She appreciated their aid, but could offer none in return. She pointed out that the Blades were barely holding on against the lacuni and Sand Scorpions, and told them to leave the Shassar Sea before the sands took them.[3] They departed, while she tended to the wounded. She her way back to the camp, where later, Zov presented her with the pelt of a slain lacuni pack leader. He claimed that he and the hero(es) had slain it, but Tabri saw through his lies, noting that only the hero's/heroes' hands had blood on them. She ordered them to hang the beast's skin at the camp's gate as a warning to any lacuni that might attack. She told the Blades to keep up their patrols; to not be complacent despite their victory. Afterwards, she talked to the hero(es), who informed her that they were searching for the Library of Zoltun Kulle. Tabri was willing to help them get there, if in return, they obtained the Scepter of Fahir for her. With the scepter in her possession, she would be seen as the rightful ruler of Shassar. She ordered Zov take them to see Peth, and gave them a gem as a sign of the pact they'd made.[5]
After the hero(es) departed to find the first piece in the Chamber of Wisdom,[5] Tabri headed to the Sereth outpost to wait for them. The hero(es) arrived, and handed her the scepter piece. She told them that the head of the scepter was buried alongside Fahir in his tomb, and warned them that things would get more difficult.[4]
While Tabri's allies raided the tomb, the outpost was attacked by the Sand Scorpions, led by Vataos himself. The two dueled, and Tabri was able to wound him. However, Vataos disappeared in a puff of smoke before Tabri could deliver the killing blow. The hero(es), having returned, gave Tabri the scepter piece they'd found in the tomb. Expressing regret for doubting them, Tabri gave them a map that would lead them to the third and final piece.[6] Afterwards, the Blades brought the lone straggler from the attack before her. She told the bandit that to Vataos, he was already dead, but that there was a place for him in the Amber Blades if he wanted it.
The straggler accepted, and he, Tabri, and other Amber Blades traveled to the Chamber of Truth, where they found that the hero(es) had already retrieved the final scepter piece. With the scepter in hand, Tabri declared that she had the right to rule Shassar, and through it, a symbol the land's people could rally behind against Vataos. The Amber Blades knelt before her, as she declared "let a new light shine upon the Shassar Sea." Later, talking to the hero(es), she upheld the bargain they had made earlier, by ordering Peth to lead them to the Library of Zoltun Kulle. She bid them farewell, and told them that she might call upon their services again.[2]
Curse of the Scepter[]
After the departure of the Shard-seeker, Tabri declared war on the Sand Scorpions. She tried to strike against Vataos using the power of the scepter, but the Blades were forced to retreat into the Library of Zoltun Kulle. At some point, she disappeared during the dead of night. She wrote two letters to Peth, declaring that she was going to face Vataos, and named Peth the new leader of the Amber Blades if anything happened to her.[7][8] By this point she was suspicious of Zov, and ordered Peth to keep and eye on him.
Tabri used a Terminus to enter a realm beyond Sanctuary, but was followed by Vataos. The two fought, and Vataos was able to claim the scepter. It was at this point that the Shard-seeker arrived, who defeated Vataos, and took back the scepter. As they headed back to the exit portal, Vataos, still alive, attacked Tabri. After throwing the scepter outside the chamber, Tabri stayed behind to fight Vataos and seemingly died when the chamber collapsed on both of them.[7]
Legacy[]
Tabri became known to Lorath Nahr. In regards to her promise to rule Shassar differently than Fahir, he wrote "many tyrants have promised the same."[9]
