The Taan Clan are one of the five main Mage Clans. They focus on divination, scrying, and other abilities rooted in old Skatsimi rites.[1]

Novice members of the Taan, commonly called trainees, have to go through a period of training at the Taan Star Observatory, located in Kehjistan. This training lasts for at least five years. First years are trained in the art of prediction by being locked in a room full of turrets. They are to avoid getting hurt by predicting the arrows and avoiding them. After completing their training, they are given the title of "Arcanist".[2]
Hierarchy[]
A hierarchy exists within the Taan:
- High Arcanist: The nominal head of the Taan, or at least an Observatory
- Juris: An overseer of disputes and dispensers of judgement.
- Depths-Eye: A researcher.
- Arcanist: A Taan mage who has completed training at an observatory.
History[]
The existence of the Taan Clan goes as far back as Sanctuary's early history. They practiced their beliefs in hidden temples located in the east. When the Mage Clans formed, they were not counted as being among the most prominent.[3]
After the Mage Clan Wars, the prominence of the clans decreased, the Taan included. However, prior to the End of Days, the Taan came together with the other clans in the Yshari Sanctum.[1]
