Summons of the Deathless was the third seasonal quest of Season of Blood in Diablo IV. It activated as soon as The Hunter's Chase was completed, and lead directly into A Witness in the Dust.

Objectives[]

  1. Meet Erys at the Tomb of Hallows (Magistrate Oren is a cultist, trapping people and converting them into vampires. This hunter, Erys, wants me to join the search for him. The Magistrate's tricks end now.)
  2. Enter the Tomb of Hallows
  3. Search for Magistrate Oren
  4. Slay the vampires
  5. Speak with Erys
  6. Investigate the area for a lead on the vampire cult
  7. Explore Hallows' End
  8. Speak with the Apparition
  9. Fight off the Vampire Lord's minions
  10. Complete Chapter 1 of the Season Journey
  11. Meet with Erys in Ked Bardu (I confronted the voice I've been hearing in my head. It's an Ancient being intent on some sort of ascension ritual. I need to tell the Hunter what I found.)

Transcript[]

  • Class: Are you ready?
  • Hunter Erys: I am, but it's hard to predict exactly what awaits inside. It could be more vampires, it could be the Magistrate, it could be nothing at all. You should be ready, too.
  • Magistrate: Master, please! Give me another chance! No!
  • Hunter Erys: Ugh, killed. We seem to have complicated the situation, you and I.
  • Class: What do we do now?
  • Hunter Erys: The Magistrate was the link between us and the leader of the vampires. This makes things...annoyingly more complicated.
  • Hunter Erys: We should scour this place for anything—logs, documents—whatever you can find. I'm going back to Ked Bardu to follow up with some contacts.
  • Shipping Manifest: The manifest marks that all blood be transferred to someone named Addrine promptly after harvest. "The Ascension" draws near.
  • Mysterious Voice: It's good to be alone. You have much to see...
  • Mysterious Voice: Child of the Eternal Conflict, waiting for the victor to claim them as servant...
  • Mysterious Voice: Answer me something: have you ever felt like you were born with a noose around your neck, tied by your Mother and Father?
  • Mysterious Voice: Enslaved by demons, threatened by angels...how do you fight the infinite when you are finite?
  • Vampire Lord Zir: Come closer. I can feel the blood within you is like no other.
  • Class: You must be who leads the vampires.
  • Vampire Lord Zir: They are the Blood Seekers of my revival, and the harbingers of my ascension. Just like you.
  • Vampire Lord Zir: I am Zir, of the Ancients. And you will serve.
  • Class: I refuse.
  • Vampire Lord Zir: Impossible. Why haven't you changed? I know your blood, I--
  • Vampire Lord Zir: Ah...I understand now. Blood like no other, indeed.
  • Vampire Lord Zir: It won't matter. You deserve more than to be chained to mortality, and the more you thirst, the more you will understand.
In Ked Bardu
  • Hunter Erys: Take these supplies, and hurry. The vampires may hit your camp within the week.
  • Class: I met the true vampire leader. He's an Ancient being named Zir.
  • Hunter Erys: An Ancient? But you spoke to it. Walked away, despite your vampirism.
  • Hunter Erys: We could use that. We might need to use that.
  • Class: Explain clearly.
  • Hunter Erys: Vampires were once said to be among the Ancients, but it's—(sigh) that was a long time ago. I don't know much more than that.
  • Hunter Erys: But I do know of an Ancient burial site in Hawezar. If we can find a vampire of that era in any condition, and Potent Blood, there are rituals I can attempt.

Optional Dialogue[]

  • Class: Why exactly am I coming with you?
  • Erys: It's simple. Our goals align, you seem like you might be of help. And this lets me keep a close eye on you.
  • Class: You're not afraid I'll fully change?
  • Erys: Oh, you're going to change. I'm sorry, but whatever's preventing your cravings can't last forever. It never does.
