Stony Field is an area located in Act I, and is reached by following a split in the path through the Cold Plains. The Stony Field is connected to the Dark Wood through the Underground Passage. Several monster types inhabit this area, such as Skeletons, Corrupted Rogues, and Fallen. It has a waypoint. Activating the waypoint before moving on can save considerable time for the Search for Cain quest, due to the backtracking involved.
The Stony Field is home to the Cairn Stones, which the player is required to activate during the Search for Cain quest. The Cairn Stones are guarded by Rakanishu, one of the Fallen. The Moldy Tome can also be found here, which will activate The Forgotten Tower quest.
In Diablo II: Resurrected, the Stony Field can become terrorized. Its low monster density means that it's not great for experience gain or item farming, but it is very accessible due to its waypoint.
True to its name, the Stony Field has an unusually high number of rock formations.
