- Monster summary(src)
Spike Fiends are a type of monster.
Lore[]
Spike Fiends are troublesome,[1] quadrupedal scavengers found in mountainous regions. Their armored backs are festooned with thick, dagger-like spines. Tough for their size, they arch their backs to fire these quills at prey or threatening predators. These quills, which they fire one at a time, can travel up to 50 feet. They can sense and track other creatures by their scent.[2] More developed variants have a more vicious rate of fire and tend to fire in volleys. In 1264, caravans traveling to the Rogue Pass reported several attacks by these aggressive monsters.[1]
In-game[]
Spike Fiends are found in Act I of Diablo II. They attack by clawing their enemies or by firing one of their many quills on their backs. Some species tend to group together and fire volleys of quills. Their habitat includes the wilderness and even near human built structures, including the cloister levels in the Rogue Monastery.
statistics[]
Spike Fiends (second variety) can be found in the Dark Wood.
They fire two quills and on Nightmare and Hell difficulties they have a 5/15% chance to deal Cold damage with them.
