"The undergrowth in Sanctuary is rife with creatures of the greediest inclinations. As these vermin scurry, the scarlet fur-lined bags on their backs jingle with loot ripe for the taking. Treasure Goblins are appearing in larger numbers, and it seems a hauntingly festive cheer has influenced their packs."

Slay Ride to Hell was a Christmas-themed event for Diablo IV. It launched on December 17, 2024 and lasted until January 2, 2025.[1] It had event-exclusive cosmetics and in-game rewards.[2]

Gameplay[]

During the event, Treasure Goblin spawns were greatly increased and the entire Diablo IV community was tasked with slaying Treasure Goblins in order to reach milestone goals. The community had to defeat a total of 40,000,000 Treasure Goblins to unlock the full five tiers of rewards. Once a milestone was reached, the rewards (which included bags containing Ancestral legendary items, gold, and Vessel of Hatred currencies) could be claimed from the Midwinter Ward in Kyovashad. The Midwinter Square was re-purposed for this event with interactable lore pieces describing the rewards such as Pale Marks and Undercity Tributes. The Gifts of Midwinter cosmetic mount set was unlocked for all players to claim out of the in-game shop once the milestones for tiers 3, 4, and 5 were achieved.
