The Skeleton Key is a legendary Scoundrel Token in Diablo III. It only drops at character level 61 or later, and only on Torment difficulty.
When equipped on the Scoundrel, he cannot die. Although the Scoundrel cannot die, this does not prevent him from disappearing after a short period of time when called in by the set bonus for Asheara's Vestments.
Using this item with two Unity rings (one for Lyndon and for the player) will effectively double the character's Toughness, as they will split damage evenly, but Lyndon will suffer none.

- Despite the item appearing as a glass blade, the description claims it to be a key.
- The skeleton key is a common fantasy trope, a key that can change its shape to fit any lock. In real life, master keys capable of opening multiple locks were called skeleton keys due to their appearance, giving birth to this trope.
