Shyan is an Assassin of the Viz-Jaq'taar.
Biography[]
During the Age of Hatred, Chaos Rifts began opening all over Sanctuary. The Viz-Jaq'taar were aware that Bartuc had returned to Sanctuary, and was responsible for the rifts.
Shyan was present at the Wretched Sands in Kehjistan. She battled demons on the beach which had been disgorged from one of Bartuc's rifts. In this, she was aided by the Wanderer. After the demons were defeated, she told the Wanderer what she knew of Bartuc and the rifts. She told the Wanderer to meet her in Yelesna if they wished to aid her. The Wanderer met her there, and Shayn told them what she knew, further stating that if they aided her in sealing the rifts, she would see to it they were rewarded.[1]
While the Wanderer was at work, Shyan infiltrated a cult that worshiped Bartuc, and learned when next they would gather. There were even whispers that Bartuc himself would appear. When the Wanderer returned to Yelesna, she told them of her infiltration, and explained her plan to enter their ranks and send Bartuc back to Hell when he manifested.[2]
The pair confront Ismail
The two entered the cultists' den, freeing a prisoner named Daidian along the way. He claimed that the cultists worshipped Bartuc, but that in reality, they were serving Mephisto, even if they didn't know it. He ran away screaming, and the pair continued to the summoning chamber. However, they were confronted not by Bartuc, but Ismail the Accursed. The demon told them that Bartuc was aware of their actions, but the Fell Council had other plans for them. Ismail was slain, but Bartuc was nowhere to be found. Shyan told the Wanderer that she could use Ismail's head to learn Bartuc's location through a Viz-Jaq'taar technique. However, she would have to take the head to her order, and extracting the information would take time. She told the Wanderer to meet her back in Yelesna.[2]
In-game[]
Shyan is found in the Infernal Chaos season of Diablo IV. She is talked to during the initial quest, "Sands of Chaos." She later takes up residence in Yelesna, and becomes the player's point of contact during the seasonal questline. She acts as a follower during the quest "Den of Inquity."
