Shard of Hatred (Diablo IV)

Shards of Hatred are a form of currency in Diablo IV. They are encountered in Fields of Hatred, where they can be obtained by slaying enemy players and monsters, along with opening chests and completing events. The shards must be brought to a purification event in order to turn them into a usable currency called Red Dust, which can in turn buy cosmetic items or gambling for equipment at the vendors located in the area.

Attempting to purify the shards will notify all players inside the Fields of Hatred. Purified shards are the player's, but unpurified shards are fair game. Leaving the Fields of Hatred without purifying the shards results in all current carried shards being lost.
