Diablo Wiki

Shadow War is a Shadows-exclusive game mode in Diablo Immortal, where Shadow Clans battle one another.

The battle format is similar to Alley of Blood.

Players can sign up to a Shadow War starting 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Each war consists of 3-12 individual matches in different categories: Eminent, Exalted, Famed, and Proud. Each category gives a certain number of points for a win, and the clan with the most points wins the war. The event begins at 7:35 p.m. server time on Thursdays for the Preliminary Round and 7:35 p.m. server time on Saturdays for the Final and Third Place Playoff Rounds. The countdown to the Shadow War's beginning will start at 7:30 p.m. server time to give players enough time to gather and organize for their fight.[1] The feature decides the top ten dark clans that go on to the Cycle of Strife. Players that engage in the Shadow War are rewarded with experience and a guaranteed random Legendary item.[2]

The clan leader and officers have access to a management tool that allows setting requirements on participation in each category.

Server Merge[]

Shadow War is skipped during a week of a server merge - the sign up button does not work, and the brackets will be empty. The "Top 10" page will display no clans for the rest of the week after the merge.

History[]

In the October 12, 2022 update, the ability to assign up to two substitutes for the clan leader in Shadow War was introduced.

In the December 14, 2022 update, a Stamina mechanic was introduced for the Immortal in Shadow War. This is no longer relevant as the format of Shadow War has changed since. (The patch notes don't mention if Challenge of the Immortal is also affected.)

Originally, the start time of Shadow War was ???. It was changed to 7:30 p.m. in the March 30, 2023 update.

Before the September 21, 2023 update, Shadow War used the same battle format as the Challenge of the Immortal component of the Cycle of Strife, with the clan leader controlling the Immortal on the opposing clan's side.[3] Some of the updates above only apply to the old format and are meaningless in the new format.

In the October 11, 2023 update, a barrier was added at the entrance, preparation time was increased from 5 to 10 minutes, Sacred Guardian movement speed was increased, and rewards were changed to be sent via mail.

The management tool was added in the June 26, 2024 update.
