- "It is well-known that there are seven great Horadric tombs hidden beneath the sands in the farthest reaches of the desert. One of them surely must be Tal Rasha’s prison." - Jerhyn.
The Seven Tombs is the sixth and final quest of Act II. It is initiated by talking to Jerhyn after either completing Radament's Lair, The Horadric Staff or Tainted Sun quests or after the player character reaches level 20. The goal of the quest is to find the true tomb, gain entrance to Tal Rasha's Chamber, and destroy Baal before Diablo manages to free him. The quest is completed after the defeat of the demon Duriel and then having the player character speak to the Archangel Tyrael.
Background[]
Jerhyn and Drognan concluded that the Dark Wanderer who had passed through Lut Gholein shortly before the arrival of the player character was Diablo himself. Diablo was set on freeing his brother Baal, who was imprisoned within Tal Rasha's Tomb centuries ago. Tal Rasha's Tomb lay hidden deep in the desert amongst six other tombs.
Walkthrough[]
This quest is more or less embedded within the other quests. First, a Horadric Staff had to be created in order to gain entrance to Tal Rasha's Chamber in The Horadric Staff quest. Then, Tal Rasha's Tomb itself had to be found by searching the Arcane Sanctuary for clues in the Arcane Sanctuary quest. Once Horazon's Journal has been read, the glyph of the True Tomb is recorded in the quest log, and a portal opens to the Canyon of the Magi.
In the Canyon of the Magi, the tomb that bears that same glyph is the true tomb of Tal Rasha. The true tomb is considerably larger than the false tombs. It might be worthwhile to explore the false tombs though, since there are plenty of monsters and golden chests waiting inside.
In the depths of the true tomb, there is a circular formation on the ground with an Orifice in the center. Click on the Orifice and place the Horadric Staff into the slot of the special window that pops up. A passage opens up in the wall, which leads to Tal Rasha's Chamber. This is where Duriel stands guard to fight intruders. After defeating Duriel, explore the Chamber and find Tyrael. After listening to Tyrael, a portal to Lut Gholein opens. Take the portal and speak to Jerhyn. He will inform the player that Meshif will take him/her east to Kurast, the location of Act III.
Strategy[]
Use a Town Portal scroll before entering the Chamber, in order to stock up on Healing Potions and Thawing Potions in preparation for the tough battle. The Chamber has no exit, so opening another Town Portal upon entry is recommended for a quick ecape route. Duriel is a tough melee boss that is oriented around cold-based attacks. He also has a cold aura identical to the Paladin's Holy Freeze.
