A server merge is a rare event in Diablo Immortal where multiple servers are merged into one.
Effects[]
Even if several servers are merged into one, the old server names still appear in the server list. A globe icon appears next to the server name, and clicking on this icon displays a list of the other servers that have been merged with it. Characters are still tagged to one of the original servers and can only be accessed by selecting that particular server, but after logging in, they will see the same players on the server. This means the same account can hold not just 5 characters per server but 5 times the number of servers merged into one. The set of servers that have been merged is informally referred to as a server cluster.
Names[]
It is possible that after the merge, two players, clans or warbands with the same end up on the same server. If this happens, they are renamed to a name suffixed with a dash and a number (so e.g. Player becomes Player-1). The name can be changed afterwards. Note that a dash is not a valid character in player names, so having a name with a dash may be perceived as a limited-edition cosmetic.
Accursed Towers[]
Accursed Towers are affected by the server merge, since the same tower might be occupied by a different clan on a different server. To keep things fair, all Accursed Towers are reset to no owner after the merge. The season number is reset to 1. The season start date is updated to the date of the server merge, but the end date is not changed. There is no compensation for the lost towers other than the unclaimed rewards being sent out. Therefore it is advised to max out the reward chests on any towers owned at the start of the week of the merge.
Leader Boards[]
All leader boards are re-ranked with all the players from the merged servers. The first clear leader boards for Challenge Rift will display all the first clears from every server, but still only one reward can be claimed per 10 levels no matter how many players are listed.
Shadows[]
Characters and clans retain their Shadow status, Marks and Shadow task progress through the merge. Shadow War is skipped during a week of the merge - the sign up button does not work, and the brackets will be empty. The "Top 10" page will display no clans for the rest of the week after the merge.
Because of the re-ranking, clans that were in Class A before the merge can find themselves downgraded to Class C. If there are not enough weeks left in the reign, they may be unable to regain their Class A standing and participate in the Rite of Exile to get a chance at winning the next reign.
Immortals[]
Since there can be only one alliance of Immortals after the merge, the alliance with the highest dominance is chosen to be the Immortals after the merge. All other clans who were Immortals are reverted to Adventurers.
Cycle of Strife[]
The Cycle of Strife counter is set to the length of the reign of the Immortal alliance that was chosen to be the Immortals on the merged server. The Cycle of Strife event on Sunday evening is skipped, including the prediction challenges. At the start of the next week, the reign counter increases, unless it was already at 7/7, in which case it stays the same.
If there was a reign change on the last Sunday before the merge, the Cycle's Turn daily rewards and the Cycle's Turn Chest option from the Hilts vendor are cancelled before their regular end date.
Deeds of Valor scores are set to the maximum for all players as part of the merge.
Compensation[]
A compensation mail with 3 Legendary Crests and one Normal Gem of every type is sent out.
Festival of Dawn[]
Festival of Dawn runs for 11 days after the server merge, although the actual start may be delayed.
History[]
A large number of servers was merged on June 26, 2024.[1]
