The Sanctified Earth Monastery is the home to the Monks of Ivgorod on Mount Zavain.[1]
Lore[]
The Sanctified Earth Monastery was a Veradani monastery that was built on Mount Zavain after the previous monastery was lost during the Zakarum Crusade. It is built around the mountain's summit, and rises above the mists of the surrounding valley. The monks of the monastery are in an uneasy[2] alliance with the Sons of Rakkis at Sentinel's Watch.[3]
History[]
The Sanctified Earth Monastery can be seen near the peaks of Mount Zavain
Shortly after the destruction of the Worldstone, a grieving monk was lured into making a pact with the God of Retribution. Invoking its chaotic power introduced corruption to the monastery which tainted many monks; both living and dead.[4] It also attracted Nightmare demons to the monastery. By 1270, the Shard-seeker with the help of Oza was able to destroy the origin of the corruption. Sadly, the monastery was greatly damaged by a demon Dravec summoned to delay the Shard-seeker and Oza.[5][6]
Later, a monk was sent by the Patriarchs to the Sanctified Earth Monastery to cleanse the lingering darkness there[4].

The Sanctified Earth Monastery is a Mount Zavain zone in Diablo Immortal. It is located at the northernmost section of the Mount Zavain map; to the north of the Zakarum Graveyard.

- Going by this speech, the Sanctified Earth Monastery was built c. sixth century; well before the Zakarum Crusade. This implies that the Silent Monastery is not actually a separate monastery, but a part of the original Sanctified Earth Monastery that was lost to the Black Mists and cordoned off. Most of the present monastery must have been built over the remnants.
- The Sanctified Earth Monastery may have played a role in suppressing the Black Mists, as they continued to spread[2] after the fall of the temple.[5]
- According to Diablo Immortal, the Sanctified Earth Monastery is home to the Monks of Ivgorod.[1] According to Brothers in Arms however, the Floating Sky Monastery is home to the Monks.
- It is implied that the Sanctified Earth Monastery is not the only Veradani monastery in the Tamoe Mountain Range.[7]
- Conversions in the Forgotten Nightmares questline implies that Zaim is the patron deity of the Sanctified Earth Monastery.
- It is implied that the Sanctified Earth Monastery is far from the Floating Sky Monastery and that there has been insufficient communication between them.[4][7]
