Royal Army of Khanduras

The Royal Army of Khanduras was the standing army of the kingdom of Khanduras. It was small in number.^[1]

History[]

During the Darkening of Tristram, Leoric, in his ever-maddening state, was convinced by Archbishop Lazarus that the neighboring kingdom of Westmarch was secretly plotting to de-throne him and annex Khanduras. Flying into a rage, Leoric gathered his advisors and declared a state of war between the kingdoms. Despite the advisors' protests, Leoric was not swayed, and Lazarus appointed Sir Lachdanan to lead the army into Westmarch. Although Lachdanan argued against the necessity of the conflict, he was nonetheless honor-bound to obey.^[2]

The assault was a disaster, as the royal army was torn to pieces by the superior numbers and defensive positions of Westmarch's armies.^[2] While an infantry charge by the Royal Army achieved some success against the Knights of Westmarch,^[3] the battle still went in Westmarch's favor. Lachdanan quickly gathered those who weren't captured or killed and retreated to Tristram, only to find the town in shambles.^[2]
