Reaper's Fear was a Legendary Crafting Material in Diablo III. It only dropped from Malthael and was required to craft the Reaper's Wraps bracers. It has an Item Level of 1, can be stacked up to 1000 times, and is account bound. As of patch 2.0.6, it is no longer necessary (occasionally drops due to a bug), and existing Fears can be sold for 50,000 gold.
In the early versions of the game, it was bugged, and it was nearly impossible to obtain this ingredient. However, with Malthael being the hardest boss in game (both in terms of difficulty and accessibility), it was not a trivial task to farm the Reaper's Fear even after the fix.
Only one who has gazed into the black abyss of death could experience such fear.
