Raid the Vault

Raid the Vault

Raid the Vault is an event in Diablo Immortal. It is exclusive to Shadows players, and is their counterpart event to Defend the Vault.

Gameplay[]

In the event, players raid the Vault of the Immortals. A team of four Shadows attempt to steal from the vault. It starts out as PVE against NPC enemy guardians in the vault, but if the Immortals find out someone is attempting to breach their defenses, they can send players in to defend it and the activity transitions to PVP. If the Shadows are defeated, keep any loot from the current and previous floors. If they defeat the Immortals, they have a grace period to continue raiding the vault.[1]. On the first 3 floors, the Immortals are only alerted if the Shadows fail to kill one of the Wardens that randomly appear. After entering the 4th floor, the Immortals are always alerted with a minimum delay of 10 seconds.

The Immortals will be temporarily invulnerable when they enter the Vault.[2]

Shadows can only raid the Vault during two time windows in a day, from 12pm – 1pm, and from 7pm – 8pm, Monday to Saturday. This way Immortals can be prepared to defend the Vault. There can only be 1200 Raid the Vault events per day server-wide. [3] Players access the event by talking to Fyggus in the Court of Whispers. Each player is limited to 10 Vault raids per day. Normally, a full party is required to raid the Vault, but if a player is in the queue for too long, they can enter without a full party.

Monsters killed inside the Vault have a chance to reward items of a random rarity, experience, and gold.[4]

Cheat Death and Savior cooldowns reset on exiting the Vault.

Elite monsters may spawn in the Vault, with the chance increased with the Immortal Vault rank.

There is a small chance to spawn a Hidden Passage on the first floor. It must be activated by all players before opening the first chest or going to floor 2. It instantly takes the party to floor 4 and awards all the chests from the first 3 floors.

The condition for opening the portal to the next floor (or the exit portal on the 4th floor) is to kill every guard. It is not dependent on opening any chests or defeating the Immortals. However, the portal is locked if the Immortals enter the floor.

To move on to the next floor, party members must simultaneously stand on the four buttons at the end of the floor. However if a player quits early, their button is removed, allowing the rest of the party to continue.

There is a time limit of 2 hours. One minute before the end, a countdown labelled "The Vault is closing" appears on the top of the screen. Getting booted out this way counts as a defeat on the current floor, even if the floor was actually completed beforehand.

Rewards[]

The main goal is to open chests, which contain large amounts of gold, up to 40 Hilts and a small chance for a legendary item. The four floors contain 1, 2, 3 and 4 chests respectively. There is a limit of 40 chests per week, after which the chests will stop dropping items. All chest drops are kept even if the Immortals defeat the Shadows.

Opening a chest in the Vault awards 15 Activity Points towards Deeds of Valor badges. This is subject to the weekly cap of 40 chests, resulting in up to 600 points per week.

There is an additional bonus of Hilts depending on the amount of Essential collected by the particular player. This bonus caps out at 350 Hilts per week.

Essentia Hilts
<10% 0
10% 40
25% 80
40% 120
70% 160

Note that on the Vault registration window, there are indicators for Hilts and chests, but the Hilts indicator counts up while the chest indicator counts down. The Hilts indicator only shows the Essentia bonus, which runs on a separate counter from the Hilts from chests.

History[]

Initially, to initiate the event, a hero or party needed to have a Shard of Living Night.[2]

Originally, the event time was 2 hours. It was shortened to 1 hour in the August 17, 2022 update (the Shadow Assembly retains the original time window).

Monster drops were added in the March 30, 2023 update.

Originally the event was also available on Sundays. It was changed to Monday-Saturday in the September 21, 2023 update.

Originally the Immortals could be alerted as soon as setting foot on the 4th floor. This was changed to have a minimum delay of 10 seconds in the February 21, 2024 update.

Originally the daily limit on Vault raids per player was 5 and the minimum wait between raids was 10 minutes. These were changed to 10 per day and 3 minutes of wait in the February 21, 2024 update. The wait was completely removed in the March 20, 2025 update.

Originally the bonus Hilts were awarded based on the number of floors beaten. Furthermore the reward UI was confusing as it didn't split the two types of Hilts rewards. These were changed in the February 21, 2024 update such that the reward is now based on Essentia collected and the UIs were improved to more obviously show the two types of rewards. However this did remove the UI inside the Vault that showed the total Essentia collected by the whole team that could be used as an indicator for when the whole floor was clear. Initially the Hilts increased by 10 for each milestone. This was updated to 40 hilts per milestone one week later in an unannounced update.

Originally, 10 Activity points could be earned by just entering and immediately leaving the Vault. As this resulted in toxic behavior where players intending to max their badges would repeatedly queue for the Vault and then immediately quit, leaving the rest of the party one man down (or multiple if others were also doing the same), this was changed in the June 19, 2025 update such that the Activity reward is based on opening chests.

The September 25, 2025 update added the ability to enter without a full party after a delay, the hidden passage, the cooldown reset of Cheat Death and Savior, and the chance to spawn Elite monsters.
