Poison Creeper is a Druid skill in Diablo II.
Synergies[]
- Gives synergy to:
- Rabies: +20% Poison damage per level
- Receives synergy from:
- Rabies: +10% Poison Damage per level
Usage[]
Poison Creeper is the indispensable ally of the melee Druid. At Level 1, the creeper has 50 points of health, and can inflict 12-18 points of poison damage over a period of four seconds. In this way, the Creeper is used more like the Raven skill than a typical summon. That is to say, it is a supplement to the Druid's own attack strength, as opposed to an independent attacking minion.
Only one of Poison Creeper, Carrion Vine or Solar Creeper can be summoned by the same player at a time: summoning another vine will dispel any previously summoned.
Rather than killing opponents outright, it weakens them with poison damage so that the Druid can finish them. Or, a Druid can attack the opponents once or twice, and then leave them for the Creeper to finish while he focuses his attention on fresh, strong enemies. Against particularly hardy enemies it's also useful to prevent their regeneration.
All Vines are unattackable by normal means; that is, enemy may not direct their attacks at a vine, but can still hurt them indirectly, such as by area attacks. To compensate, Vines cannot block enemy pathing. The only time a vine may be directly attacked is when it is doing its work; for example, when a Poison Creeper rises to attack an enemy by poisoning them.
Poison Creeper lays down a "mat" of poisonous leaves whenever it attacks for approximately 4 seconds. This mat persists afterwards, even if the Poison Creeper is killed, with the mat duration increasing by skill level. Against groups of monsters the mat of poison leaves is surprisingly powerful. Re-casting Poison Creeper to a different location with unpoisoned enemies lets you effectively cover many areas in such poison leaf mats.
Internally (in Skills.txt, SkillDesc.txt etc.), this skill is known as "Plague Poppy".
