One of the Pits of Anguish
The Pits of Anguish are located deep within the Burning Hells.[1] They are a birthing place for demons,[2] and serve as spawning pools for Abyssal Gargantuans.[1] Skarn was able to 'pull' demons from the Pits to reinforce his armies.[2]
In 1270, they were destroyed by The Shard-seeker using Yl'nira[3].
In-game[]
Pits of Anguish feature in Diablo Immortal as landmarks of the Realm of Damnation zone, visible even in the Map. Most of them can't be interacted with after the quest they feature in, but the last pit becomes a dungeon that can be replayed.
