- Description(src)
The Pit of Artificers (a.k.a. the Pit) is a location in Diablo IV, introduced in Season 4.
Lore[]
The Pit was created by the Horadrim, who used runeshards to enter it.[1] It is apparently located in Scosglen.[2]
Gameplay[]
Upon entering World Tier IV, players receive a priority quest to complete a tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon. Upon completion, they can start collecting runeshards. The runeshards can be used to activate an obelisk in Cerrigar, allowing the player to descend into the Pit.[2]
The player's task is to slay enough monsters before their 10-minute time limit runs out to summon a final boss. Each player death removes time from the clock: first death removes 30 seconds, second death removes 60 seconds, third and subsequent deaths will remove 90 seconds.[2]
After enough monsters are slain, a portal materializes, transporting the player to the boss arena. Slay the boss before the timer expires to earn masterworking materials, and the next tier of the Pit. If the player kills the boss with enough time left on the clock, the benefit increases. With 4-6 minutes to spare, a player can skip a level and unlock an additional tier of the Pit. Killing the boss with 6 or more minutes to spare grants two additional tier unlocks. The Pit has 200 total levels of difficulty.[2]
The Pit can be entered in groups of up to four players, with the player who spends the runeshards to open the Pit earning the lion’s share of materials. Only the player who opened the Pit has the chance to receive Stygian Stones. The further a player descends the Pit, the more frequent these Stygian Stones will appear.[2]
The Pit as it will appear in Season 11
Belial will appear in the Pit during Season 11. During this variant, Belial Eyes will randomly appear in the Pit. Once destroyed, they'll stun stun nearby enemies and summon a pack of Belial Apparitions. Slaying these Apparitions will count towards the player's Pit progress. Destroying several Eyes will replace the final boss with Belial himself.[3]
