Transcript[]
- Deckard Cain: My friend, there is someone you should meet. A colleague of Charsi's named Rayek. He is a survivor of Arreat and something of an intellect. His Harrogathian expertise--combined with Charsi's skill at the forge--is already bearing fruit.
- Deckard Cain: He is studying the Einfrinn tree. It is the ancient gnarled thing that sits in the middle of Westmarch. Legends say it was planted by King Rakkis when it was founded.
- Deckard Cain: But Rayek believes otherwise. He suspects the tree is as old as Sanctuary itself. With Charsi's help, he has built a device that has detected a dark energy emanating from the tree. I suspect he could use your help. Find him and send him my regards.
- Rayek: The energy is rhythmic...Like the slamming of a hammer against a...
- Class: You must be Rayek. Deckard Cain asked that I give you a hand with your...experiment.
- Rayek: You're the one that Cain mentioned? Good, you've arrived at just the right moment! My Helliquary has become entangled with the energy leaking from the Einfrinn Tree. This confirms what I suspected; whatever lies beyond the tree, it is demonic in nature.
- Class: Is there a way to destroy it?
- Rayek: Destroy the tree? That is the absolute last thing we should do! The Einfrinn Tree is what is holding back the demon. And from what I can tell, it's growing weaker by the moment...
- Rayek: But I have an idea. The Helliquary is a conduit of energy. All that is required is someone powerful enough to harness the Helliquary and I imagine their strength can be lent directly to the Einfrinn Tree.
- Rayek: What are you waiting for? This is why Cain sent you. Pick it up and focus your energy on the tree.
- Rayek: Remarkable! It appears to be reacting to you. Pick up the Helliquary again. This time, don't hold back!
- Izilech the Mishappen: Sanctuary...the gate to your world has been broken...and I smell legions of prey behind it.
- Izilech the Mishappen: Lassal, burn this flesh pit to the ground. And from its altar, raise an altar of bone to the Wrathborne!
- Lassal: I will not stop until my flames are satiated.
- Rayek: Where have you been? We have failed! Hell itself has been unleashed on Westmarch.
- Class: I don't understand. We were just in front of that tree with your Helliquary.
- Rayek: The Einfrinn Tree was torn open by the hell lord Izilech. You need to find a way to close it before he can get through, or Sanctuary itself will be lost.
- Class: I won't let that happen.
- Guard Captain: On your guard! They've broken through the barricade.
- Guard Captain: Adventurer, push ahead! Let no demon break through!
- Guard Captain: Well done, adventurer! There are more demons up ahead.
- Class: The city is completely overrun. How could this have happened?
- Guard Captain: A great demon lies ahead. It's protected by some form of shield.
- Chaos Herald Pyl: Accept your fate. You are blessed with the fortune of receiving cremation from Lassal the Flame-spun.
- Chaos Herald Pyl: You dare resist the will of the Wrathborne?
- Chaos Herald Pyl: You will pay for your insolence!
- Chaos Herald Pyl: Your victory means nothing. I see only death in your future.
- Class: The tree is just ahead.
- Lassal: Another mortal fool? Come, join your fallen ilk.
- Lassal: You are weaker than I presumed.
- Lassal: You are no match!
- Rayek: Watch out!
- Lassal: A wasted sacrifice. Is this world plagued with such fools?
- Class: You won't...
- Lassal: Die, mortal!
- Rayek: Hey, are you alright? Can you hear me?
- Class: What happened? When I touched the Helliquary, I saw something. Westmarch was ablaze. A great hell lord had broken through and unleashed his...Wrathborne...death was everywhere...It felt so real.
- Rayek: A vision gifted from the tree. The druids say that all trees can see their deaths. It appears that there is a demon lord in this one's future.
- Class: How do we stop it?
- Rayek: We use the Helliquary! Like I said, it's a conduit. If we add power to it, it will strengthen your connection to the Einfrinn Tree. With enough power, I suspect we can use the tree itself as a personal gateway and fight the demons before they're ready.
- Rayek: I want you to try something. Grab the Helliquary...then think of a demon you saw in your vision.
- Rayek: I see it in your eyes. You see the demon, don't you?
- Class: Yes, the Chaos Herald. I killed him in my vision...and I know where he is now.
- Rayek: Well, we go kill him again! But this time, bring me his remains.
Trivia[]
- In the vision where Westmarch is attacked, NPCs comprising of elites, soldiers, and archers from the Immortals, along with various adventurers (depicted by the different classes of Diablo Immortal) helped to defend the city, with little success.
