"A song drifts through the frigid night. Promises of warmth and comfort, beckoning the weary into the darkness."

VaniNevesk

Nevesk

Nevesk is a small village located in the Icehowl Taiga. It serves as a town in Diablo IV found in the Fractured Peaks.

Lore[]

"What is this place?"
"Ah, nothing special about our little town, but it's home."
Nevesk-chapel

The town's chapel

Like many towns in the Fractured Peaks, Nevesk paid tithes to the Cathedral of Light in Kyovashad. It had a local Cathedral priest who was detested by the townsfolk, at least in part due to his overbearing lectures.[1]

In 1336, Nevesk's fortunes changed as Lilith appeared in the town chapel. Her presence and/or words compelled the villagers to "embrace sin," as they murdered the Cathedral priest.[1] They left his decapitated body in the nearby Icehowl Ruins.[2] This murder was not the last, as the villagers began drugging and sacrificing others to their new patron,[3] summoning demons through said sacrifices.[4]

With the death of its priest, the village stopped sending tithes to the Cathedral and the monk Iosef was sent to investigate.[1] Iosef ended up rescuing the Wanderer, who was about to be sacrificed,[3] and the two killed the maddened villagers attacking them.[5] In light of the evil that had transpired, Iosef set the town's chapel ablaze.[1]

The Cathedral of Light investigated what had happened in Nevesk. In an official report, they concluded that Lilith had chosen to manifest in Nevesk because the town had always been mired in sin.[6]

The Wanderer later returned to Nevesk under the direction of Voszalko. They found a blood petal, which Voszalko declared as proof they were still sullied by Lilith.[7]

In-game[]

Nevesk is encountered in the prologue of Diablo IV. It includes an Altar of Lilith and a waypoint. The town can be revisited later in the game, where it remains mostly abandoned.
