Morwith is a sea witch that terrorized the Forgotten Sea for years with her Drowned force of reavers.[2]
Biography[]
Morwith was originally one of the elders of the Lilin, and the eldest among them who advocated leaving Ancients' Cradle. Morwith was rebuked for her position, but not stripped of her title. Tired of the oppression and hypocrisy of the Inari, she stole the Pathstone and fled from the Cradle with her followers amongst the Lilin. The heist was carried out in a single night.[3]
Her group were pursued by an army of Inari, who wanted to retrieve the relic. A great naval battle was fought over the Pathstone, with Morwith's group eventually falling under a hail of arrows. The battle was ended by a deepstrider, who decimated the survivors of both sides. Injured, Morwith was washed ashore a desolate island. In madness born from grief or obsession, Morwith used the Pathstone to cloud the sea and resurrect her tribesmen as waterlogged undead.[4]
Since then, she and her band of Dread Reavers terrorized the Forgotten Sea.[5]
Trail of Terror[]
As the Shard-seeker pursued the Cult of Terror, they discovered that the cult sought to purify the Worldstone shard of Baal's taint before delivering it to Diablo. They also discovered a map with an island in the Forgotten Sea marked out. Zatham recognized it as the Ancients' Cradle, and announcesd that it could only be reached with the help of the Pathstone, which was in the possession of Morwith.[1]
Dread Reaver[]
- Morwith, just before being assassinated(src)
Together with some sailors, the Shard-seeker and Zatham set sail aboard the latter's boat on the Forgotten Sea.
This attracted Morwith's attention, and she attacked them with her band of drowned reavers. At the end, Morwith was murdered by Zatham in a moment of inattention.[6]
In-game[]
Morwith appears in Diablo Immortal. Though she is the main antagonist of the Dread Reaver dungeon, she's not fought as a boss, as Zatham assassinates her before this can happen.
Trivia[]
- It is not stated why Morwith decided to use the Pathstone maliciously against the mainlanders.
- The slight dessication on Morwith's face by 1272 (see her portrait) when compared to herself when she fled the Cradle (see image in her infobox) hints the beginning of the affliction,[7] likely due to her using the Pathstone to channel the Fire of Life, which had become unbalanced after years away from the Ancients' Cradle.[8]
