The Misty Valley is a forest[1] located on Mount Zavain to the north of the Foggy Plains. Echoes of the dead roam this area and malicious Nightmares lurk around to ambush unaware adventurers.
Lore[]
The Silent Monastery once stood here. Towards the end of the Zakarum Crusade, it was attacked by the Sons of Rakkis. In a desperate move, Patriarch Sladyan released a sealed evil that covered the whole valley in the Black Mists, killing almost everything in it.[2]
The Black Fog remains in the Misty Valley, and it is inhabited by Nightmares.[3] The Horadrim built altars that can temporary create sanctuaries of Light around themselves in order to provide reprieve for adventurers passing through the area.[4]
By 1270, Mount Zavain was infested by the Cult of Damnation. Amongst other areas of the mountain, they built hideouts in ruins and caves found in the Misty Valley.[5][6]

Trivia[]
- The presence of the ruins of a Zakarum chapel and the East Shrine hints that the Misty Valley might have once been a religious hub.
