For the weapons of the same name in Diablo II and Diablo III, see Messerschmidt's Reaver (Diablo II) and Messerschmidt's Reaver (Diablo III).
Messerschmidt's Reaver is a Unique Great Axe found in Diablo I, possessing a high amount of damage and a meager boost to all attributes. Its large Hit Point penalty and lack of To-Hit bonus make it inadequate for use in Nightmare and Hell difficulties.
It returned in Diablo II.
It is also found in Diablo III as a legendary weapon, with its description speculating it was the weapon of choice for Aidan during the events of Diablo I, referring to its high popularity in the original game.
