- The Memory of Iben Fahd(src)
The Memory of Iben Fahd is an NPC in Diablo Immortal.
Biography[]
- The Memory of Iben Fahd(src)
Iben Fahd and his fellow Horadrim imbued their essence in a crystal during the Dark Exile, storing their memories for future Horadrim.
In 1270, Fahd contacted a hero, guiding them to a fountain in Westmarch. Solving Fahd's riddle, the memory presented itself to the hero, and subsequently guided them to the sanctum of his progenitor. He instructed them how to complete the trials that awaited them, and how to gather more power from vessels that contained other Horadric memories.[1]
In-game[]
The Memory of Iben Fahd initiates the "Legacy of the Horadrim" quest in Diablo Immortal, and appears as an NPC once the player solves the fountain puzzle in Westmarch. He is one of a number of Horadric memories that plays a role in the Legacy of the Horadrim system.
His in-game description later shifts to simply "Iben Fahd." He becomes an NPC in Iben Fahd's Sanctum once players have installed Iben Fahd's Tenacity.
Tale[]
I had long since accepted Morrick's invitation to the pit fights he hosted. He was my superior within the Ammuit clan, and the fights in his complex in Gea Kul were simple, violent expurgations--thrilling, in their reality, to those of us whose spellwork crossed the boundary between illusion and truth.
That night, as the last fighting-bell resounded and the combatants rested from their wounds, I found my eye drawn to commingled blood and sweat in the pit, and watched a puddle sink through the concavity in the ground, remarked by the other guests. Where it dripped below, I saw white teeth gleam in a glistening red snout. The blood vanished with a puff of sand and an awful guzzling noise.

For minutes, I barely moved. What I had seen, I was sure, was blood sacrifice--a red beast, crouching in illusion below the earth, drinking the life of Morrick's thralls. I retreated, and did not return until I had the Ammuit council at my back. But Morrick, raking both hands through his elaborate braids, parried my every accusation. His fighters were volunteers, he swore. No red demon feasted upon them. What sacrifice could there be?
I searched the pit and pulled up piles of earth; I cut my palm open and let the blood drip uselessly upon the sand. The red beast remained hidden, and Morrick was outraged. The council deemed me a menace, and I was stripped of my titles among the Ammuit, and the many artifacts I had won in my journeys. I could have lashed out at Morrick, but I had no hope to defeat him directly, and I could not even unearth his illusion. He was the greater.

At that time, old conflicts among the mage clans were as badges of honor. I pledged myself to clan Ennead in their black-leaved grotto; so great was their desire to insult my order that they accepted. And I found their perspective inspiring. Unlike we Ammuit, who strove to create fully-formed and perfect illusions all at once, the Ennead artificers imbued their creations one piece at a time. Thus I underwent their ritual transfusions, despite my unease at letting old rivals open my veins.
