Mana Regeneration is the regeneration of mana, which is mostly useful for spell-casters and mana dependent builds. It has its uses for all the build, even minor purposes.
Natural mana regeneration is very low, meaning that investing in items that increase it are vital on any spellcaster. The Sorceress skill Warmth and the Paladin's Meditation Aura are the only skills in the game to grant a bonus to additional mana regeneration.
