Barbarians who have quested with the mighty Bear Tribe are masters of the Mace. From simple wooden clubs to the contemporary, armor-defeating flanged mace, warrior masters wield these weapons to devastating effect. As the Bear shaman, Koth, said to those who favor the sword and axe, "When you are beset by hordes of the walking dead, do not come weeping to me if you have turned away from the wisdom of Bear."

Mace Mastery passively improves the Barbarian's fighting skills when wielding blunt weapons: clubs, maces, hammers, scepters, wands, and even staves (elite staves have similar damage to elite polearms).
The main advantage of maces over other weapon types is that most maces do not have dexterity requirements, thus giving them appeal to Barbarians who do not want to spend points there. The base damage of some of these weapons is another advantage: a War Hammer, while slower than a Great Sword, is one of the best one-handed Normal tier weapons available in terms of damage per hit. Combined with good attack speed, this makes mace Barbarians a force to be reckoned with.
