Lower Resist is a Necromancer skill in Diablo II.
Lore[]
Simply put, this skill increases an enemy's susceptibility to the harsh effects of the elements and elemental magics. Skin burns like paper, chills cut to the bone, and lightning is drawn to the victim as if they were an iron bar in a rainstorm.

Synergies[]

- Receives synergy from: None
Lower Resist lowers the targets' resistance to Fire, Lightning, Cold, and Poison; Lower Resist does not affect magical damage. Unlike Amplify Damage and Decrepify, it does not lower Physical Resistance. However, because of its effects, Lower Resist is extremely helpful in multiplayer situations, especially in combination with elemental fighters such as Sorceresses that find themselves stumped by monsters in Hell mode immune to certain spells. For characters that rely on elemental damage, Lower Resist may well be the most useful charged skill one can find on items.
Lower Resist can bring an opponent's resistances into negative values, meaning that corresponding elemental damage against them is increased by that percentage.
Lower Resist is the only skill that can worsen a target's defenses against Poison. Should the Necromancer in question be a Daggermancer, or aiding a party member who uses poison, this is one of the only skills that directly increases their damage.
When breaking an immunity, Lower Resist only works at 1/5th effectiveness. Lower Resist stacks with the effects of Conviction (when breaking immunities, the 1/5th effectiveness rule still applies even after the immunity is already removed). Even with the two working together, many monsters in Hell mode are still immune to some elements.

Several items grant Lower Resist skill:

Diablo III[]
Lower Resist returns in Diablo III as one of four possible curses from an Enslaved Nightmare. It has (for the most part) been kept the same, in that upon incanting the curse, the victim's resistances are debuffed. The only easily seen change is the name of the curse; it has been renamed to Curse of Resistance.
