Legendary crafting materials were required to craft all level 70 legendary items. They were introduced in patch 2.0.1, and removed in 2.0.6. Most of them only dropped from specific monsters at level 70, with the chance depending on difficulty. The two exceptions were the Adventurer's Journal and Griswold's Scribblings, which only dropped from world objects and could drop at any character level. These two were also the only ingredients that could be found in Nephalem Rifts. Each item required one ingredient every time it was crafted, sets required one item per piece.
In addition, a significant amount of regular crafting ingredients were required for some items, including gems of Marquise quality and Forgotten Souls.
The drop rate of all level 70 ingredients found on monsters (except those that were bugged) were same, and only depended on difficulty (up to 77% at Torment VI), being the same as that of Death's Breath. All ingredients could be obtained regardless of whether or not the player had the corresponding recipe, but the recipe must have been taught to the blacksmith before the ingredient could be used. Finding the ingredients did not increase the chances of finding the recipe, nor vice versa. The plans, however, could be bought from Dane Bright, a very rare spawn merchant in Nothern Highlands.
