Lacuni-warrior

The Lacuni are the race of panther people that inhabit the harsh deserts of Aranoch. They have appeared in Diablo II as Panther Women and have been mentioned in Diablo III lore, where their official name was revealed.

Appearance

The Lacuni appear as stereotypical Cat-people, with feline features present in the basic humanoid body structure. Although their facial features cannot be identified clearly due to the low resolutions of the previous games, they certainly have cat-like features like pointed ears and whiskers.

They are bipedal and can walk and run with short bursts of speed, very much like real world Felines. It may be noted that they have digitigrade hind limbs, which causes their bodies to be hunched forward in order to maintain their balance.

Society

The Lacuni society is mostly matriarchal, with women taking a more dominant role in their predatory lifestyle. What the male members are engaged in, or if they even exist is not known. The Lacuni use whips to subdue their prey, and use heavy or medium armor in their hunting expeditions. They are proficient in the use of Throwing Potions and Javelins, which makes them a fearsome threat to wandering adventurers in the desert.

In game

The Lacuni have appeared in Diablo II's Act II under the name of Panther Women. They were split up into two distinct groups: the melee, whip-wielding Sabre Cats, and the ranged Spear Cats. The player only fights female members of the species. They can be found wandering the open areas of the desert and guarding exotic treasures.

The Lacuni had their name officially revealed in the Lore of the Khazra, the Goatmen, who also had their official name revealed in the same article. They have been mentioned as an indigenous species in Aranoch. Blizzard representative known as Bashiok has confirmed that the Lacuni will be appearing in Diablo 3.

Two types of Lacuni have been confirmed for Diablo 3 so far, the Huntress and the much larger Warrior.
