Lacthan is a former resident of Margrave.
Biography[]
Lacthan lived in Margrave with his brother, Perithan. After his brother left with some merchants, some hunters harassed Lacthan, claiming that his brother had set them up, that the merchants Perithan had agreed to lead through a mountain pass had been ambushed at their campsite. As he later explained to the Wanderer, while Perithan was not a devout man, he wouldn't have done any such thing, and asked the Wanderer to serve as a bodyguard for him as he explored Krol Forest.
They found the campsite, along with the bodies of the merchants, and some of the bandits who'd ambushed them. One of the bandits had scars criss-crossing their forearm, as if made intentionally. To his unease, Lacthan realized that he'd seen similar scars on "unsavory types" who'd met with his brother, and concluded that his brother really had fallen in with the bandits.
The pair headed to the bandits' hideout, Lacthan steeling himself to take his brother's life. However, they found Perithan inside the hideout, injured, who explained that no-one was supposed to get hurt in the scheme. That he'd refused to kill and ran, and that the bandits punished him for it. Lacthan believed him, but pointed out that no-one in Margrave would. He told Perithan that they would head south through the smuggler tunnels and start over where no-one knew them. He asked the Wanderer not to tell anyone where they'd gone, and the Wanderer agreed.[1]
In-game[]
Lacthan is an NPC in Diablo IV. He can spawn in Margrave, west of the pyre. Talking to him initiates the side quest "Bound By Blood." Lacthan will accompany the player throughout the quest.
